In addition, I also work as an ESL proofreader and IELTS private tutor here in The Hague. I hold a BA (Hons) degree and have a CELTA qualification. Prior to a career in ESL English teaching, I worked in the UK national press for the Times and Financial Times newspapers. It was there I developed my proofreading and communications skills. In my spare time, I write articles for magazines and have had feature stories published in The Telegraph magazine, The Daily Mail and a number of health magazines. Although currently specialized in Jazz music, I have studied various esthetics, and Pop and Rock music, in particular, are part of my background (I played in several pop-rock bands). Therefore I am able to teach a broad panel of music styles. I also have many drum methods and charts at my disposal, and have experience in teaching children from the age of 6, as well as teenagers and adults. Lessons and teaching method: I always adapt to the student's tastes and learning profiles. This is why, during the first lesson, and on a regular basis afterwards, I always take time to discuss with my students (or their parents if they are very young) to figure out together the path they want or need to follow. I will use charts and methods for those who need visual support to assimilate the skills or teach by ear and by demonstrating to the ones who feel more comfortable this way. I also play electric guitar and can jam with my students, which is a great tool for developing band playing skills or simply to have a good time. First, she is an excellent musician. Second she is a patient, and an understanding teacher, who by nature is going to try to do her best to help you out. You feel confident with her and you know you are not going to be humiliated and belittled. She is there to support you. After two years of learning music with Pr Yantong Lin, I can hardly imagine how much she "enriched my life". She made me discover the beauty and subtlety of the music.She made me think musically and not just play notes, and made me discover the "intellectual fondation and beauty of music" that is harmony. I can't reccommend Claude enough! I reached out to him about doing some French classes to prepare for an exam that I needed to sit in work. I wasn't sure what it would entail but gave him the vague information I had. He created bespoke classes for me which covered a vast amount in a short amount of time. He managed to blend seamlessly the different aspects of language learning (aural, oral and written) during our classes and explained very complicated grammar points in a clear, precise way. He has a wealth of knowledge which he shares so generously. If you are looking for engaging, interactive classes with a teacher who is passionate about the language and can adapt to any level, look no further!

Learn and improve to speak Italian with a real Florentine (Paris)

Gemma was a wonderful teacher. Her and I walked around Florence while she was simultaneously teaching me Italian. Her easy going and positive attitude made learning fun while also being very substantial. Gemma is super patient, and after the second day I could construct longer, more complicated sentences. I had mentioned some struggles I have had within schooling where I struggled with pronouns and prepositions, and by the first day I could do it easy no problem due to her explanations being very good. Overall I Gemma is a very good tutor and I highly recommend her.
