Trusted teacher: Lesson: Electrochemistry Duration: 60 minutes Grade Level: Advanced Science / Chemistry (IGCSE, A Level, IB) Main Objectives: By the end of this lesson, students should be able to: 1. Define electrochemistry and explain its importance. 2. Describe the difference between electrolytic and galvanic (voltaic) cells. 3. Write half-reactions and overall cell reactions. 4. Calculate standard electrode potentials and predict the direction of electron flow. 5. Understand practical applications of electrochemistry in everyday life. Lesson Outline / Brief Notes: 1. Introduction to Electrochemistry (10 minutes) Definition: Electrochemistry is the branch of chemistry that deals with the relationship between chemical reactions and electricity. Key Concept: Redox reactions involve the transfer of electrons. Real-life example: Batteries, electroplating, corrosion prevention. 2. Galvanic (Voltaic) Cells (15 minutes) Composed of two half-cells connected by a salt bridge. Oxidation occurs at the anode, reduction at the cathode. Example: Daniell cell Zn(s) | Zn2+(aq) || Cu2+(aq) | Cu(s) Oxidation: Zn → Zn2+ + 2e− Reduction: Cu2+ + 2e− → Cu 3. Electrolytic Cells (10 minutes) Require an external power source to drive non-spontaneous reactions. Example: Electrolysis of molten NaCl At cathode: Na+ + e− → Na At anode: 2Cl− → Cl2 + 2e- 4. Standard Electrode Potentials (10 minutes) Electrode potential measures the tendency of a species to be reduced. Example: Zn2+/Zn: -0.76 V Cu2+/Cu: +0.34 V Predict electron flow: Electrons flow from Zn to Cu in a Daniell cell. 5. Applications of Electrochemistry (5 minutes) Batteries (Li-ion, lead-acid) Electroplating (silver plating, chromium plating) Corrosion protection (galvanization) Exercise (10 minutes) 1. Short Answer Questions: a. Define electrochemistry. b. Identify the anode and cathode in a zinc-copper galvanic cell. c. Explain the difference between galvanic and electrolytic cells. 2. Calculation: Given: Zn2+/Zn: -0.76 V Cu2+/Cu: +0.34 V Calculate the standard cell potential of a Daniell cell. 3. Application Question: Describe one practical application of electrochemistry in everyday life and explain how it works.

Trusted teacher: Hi, Tutor Kelvin here. Your MATHS and SCIENCE Tutor. MATHS; Many students fail Maths because of unsharpened analytical skills. As an experienced Tutor, my aim is to bridge in that gap.No, student must ever be troubled with a concept that do have a solution . Q.Why you will love Maths after the lessons? 1.I will help break down concepts to the level of your understanding. 2.I will make sure that I explain all the steps required per topic. 3.At the end of the day, I could've made sure you know and understand the requirements for each question. This will be achieved by exposing you my student to final examination papers. NOTE; I am a straight forward Tutor who strives to bring out the best in every student on time.I am always innovative by using interactive mode of Teaching Methodology. I use well structured notes and past papers.Once I teach my student/s a topic, I make sure the lesson is concluded by attempting Examination Questions together. In addition, each lesson takes 1 hour (60 minutes) duration. That time , is fair enough to have had all the lesson objectives met. I look forward to take you through in SCIENCE which comprises of: •Chemistry This branch mainly contains atomic structure, the periodic table, rates of reactions, oxides, electro chemistry, acids, bases and salts etc •Physics This branch contains matter and how energy is converted from one form to another. That means, force is included, electricity, motion, electronics, uses of metals, among others. •Biology This branch of science deals with living and non living things.Scope of living things; Cells, tissues, organs, systems, organisms such as trees, frogs, worms, bacteria, human beings etc On the other hand, non living things includes; Air, Soil, Water and Sun Light Note: I take keen interest in providing quality lessons to all students regardless of their conditions. In addition, I make sure I use the best tactics that suits each student for effective learning. I also apply where necessary the utmost psychological skills to each student so that i ignite the learning zeal. That ensures meeting the need of each student so that I help bring out the best in each student. Dr. Ettayyebi is by far one of the most patient educators I’ve ever met. Not only is he deeply knowledgeable in mathematics and logical reasoning, but he’s also incredibly personable and easy to talk to. I’m embarrassingly bad at math, yet he’s never made me feel ashamed of it—something I can’t say for most tutors I’ve had in the past. Instead, he’s gone the extra mile to create a tailored learning path for me and all his students, one that meets our goals while strengthening our weak spots. I highly recommend Dr. Ettayyebi for learners of any age—whether you’re brushing up on existing material or prepping for an entrance exam. If you’re looking for a customized educational plan with a hands-on approach (though he also offers online sessions), Dr. Ettayyebi is your guy.

I have been working with Natalia for quite a while now and I can say every class with her is enlightening, fun, and most importantly super helpful. I study Statistics with her, and it is not at all my strong suit, however, Natalia made it possible for me to pass courses that otherwise I would have not been able to pass. I would 100% recommend her to anyone who is struggling or would like to improve.

I have really enjoyed my classes with Jérôme! I really appreciate Jérôme's structured way of teaching, where I will always know the next steps of the process. During the first class we set goals for my learning and the classes are giving me the tools to reach that goal. Jérôme is very encouraging and has help me to get more comfortable with speaking French!
