Drum lessons (giving) is always fun and educational. You learn in addition to technique (the correct (sitting) posture, stick control and the 'rudiments' basic patterns such as the familiar 'roffel' (double-stroke-roll) and the 'paradiddle' - also the importance of counting, dynamics, reading notes and timing After all, you will all need them if you want to continue (with a band or just for yourself).

- How long does it take before I become a drummer?
Two answers: a few hours, and a lifetime. You will see that you can play nice things in no time, but also that top drummers in the world, such as Phil Collins, Cesar Zuiderwijk, Dave Lombardo or Simon Phillips, learn new things every day (and happy).

- Am I too old to start?
You're never too old,
- Do I have a sense of rhythm?
You can learn rhythm feeling. I have NOT been able to teach anyone. - Is there a best drummer in the world?
It is about fun, and there is no podium or medal, only thousands of colleagues who are doing very well.
- Is drumming only something for men?

I am a professional harpsichordist, concert performer and teacher based in The Hague who was working in a Conservatory and many music schools during my studies.
We can make a flexible schedule depending on your plans.

I'll help you improve your level with some practical exercices and guide you to master the piano pieces of your choice according to your level. I did 8 years of piano and 6 years of music theory in a french conservatory and I've been playing in my spare time since then. I'm looking forward to share my passion and skills with anyone!

My name is João, piano and harpsichord player.
I started playing the piano at the age of 7 years old and, since then, I completely fell in love with all the keyboard instruments and its possibilities of expressivity, the clear sense of making music, interacting with other musicians, for my own pleasure, and for the others. The harpsichord came in my life when I was 15 years old. I absolutely love Classical and Baroque Music and as well as Jazz and Pop.

I started teaching piano at the age of 20 and I must confess that it became a great passion in my life!
I love to see my students improving, getting acquainted with different music styles and motivated.
I'm skilled in teaching kids and adults, beginners or experienced with the keyboard and/or music theory.

Therefore, I use different methods, according to the student's needs and expectations. Each student is special so a lesson can differ, depending on the student's level. Normally, I start with warming up and technical exercises (posture is very important!), a brief music theory contextualisation of what is going to be approached in the lesson and, most importantly, have fun and provide a nice atmosphere during the lesson.

I've graduated in piano and harpsichord at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro in 2007. In 2012 I've graduated in harpsichord at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague, obtaining my Master degree at the same institution in 2014. Currently, I'm doing my Ph.D. studies in Performing Arts at Leiden University/Orpheus Instituut Gent. I teach theoretical music studies at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague and, eventually, accompany and coach students from the Young Talent Music Department. In 2014 I've founded the Baroque Music Orchestra Le Concert d'Apollon, taking the lead of harpsichord player and music director.

If you are willing to learn how to play the piano or continue your studies, it will be a pleasure for me to show you how learning a keyboard instrument has so much to add in your life. Piano is surely amongst the most interesting instrument in the world for a simple reason: compared to the other instruments that are usually limited to one voice, piano uses the ten fingers at the same time, giving hundreds of possibilities of different voicings and harmony.

I am a French student studying in the Hague. My passion has always been piano. I did 9 years in a French music academy where I finished the entire curriculum. I have been teaching piano to 4 students the two last years in London and I am willing to continue transmitting my passion now that I am in the Hague.

I teach piano to people of all age, without omitting to mention a little bit of music theory so that students get a clear understanding of the instrument they are playing. All this in a fun way! For example, understanding and analyzing how modern tubes and hit songs are made is a fun way to learn music without necessarily using a more conventional method. My students can play whatever music they want, from classical pieces, to jazz themes, all the way to modern tic-toc songs, I always let them play what they want. The most important is to enjoy, this is the really key to progress.
