Trusted teacher: - Berlin based educator with over 12 years' of experience working as a maths tutor and as a classroom teacher. - I specialise in teaching GCSE Maths as well as GCSE English Literature. - Experience with the IB and with UK school entrance exams. - Experience helping students to transition to the UK system. Particular experience working with young people whose neurodiversity impacts on their learning. I bring a comprehensive understanding of the syllabus requirements, as well as a sensitivity to the needs of students of varying abilities and learning styles. I can offer support alongside the student's schooling, or can design a full homeschooling course. Classes can be online, in person or hybrid. I have a degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from the University of Oxford and an MFA in Creative Writing from St Andrews. Before becoming a tutor and teacher I worked as a government economics advisor, specialising in Education Policy. I have taught at Brookways School, Sutton; The Sultan's School, Muscat; and worked as supply staff at various schools across London. Oustide of teaching, I am a poet, theatre maker, facilitator and play therapist. This helps me to keep lessons engaging and fun. My teaching begins with a good relationship with the student. I also offer classes in drama and creative writing, to adults as well as young people. Selected Case Studies: O (16) and A (14) 2021-2022 (Maths and English GCSE) I home schooled O for one academic year, working on English and Maths GCSE. O has ASD and needed to work with a tutor with experience adapting to his particular learning needs. I worked with O for 12 hours each week. The role required adaptability to the family's schedules and O's varying ability to engage with the work. I now work with O's sister A on maths. A was 14 when we worked together and I was able to help her to plug gaps in her maths knowledge. Zoe (15-16) 2021-2023 (English GCSE) "Sean has been tutoring my daughter for 1.5 years. He engaged well with Zoe who found him inspiring and fun to work with. Sean is thoughtful and diligent, he understood the challenges she is facing with creative writing and constructed the lessons to suit her needs. He was also willing to change the content of a class and adapt to her requests at times that she was struggling to follow up. We feel very lucky to have had Sean supporting Zoe for her GCSE creative writing and would certainly recommend him to other families." (Athina, mother) Bert (15-16) 2021-2022 (Maths and English GCSE) "I would not hesitate to recommend Sean, who tutored my son Bert throughout his GCSEs to success. Bert, who is dyslexic also struggles with ADHD, he's not a natural student and struggles to engage. Sean showed outstanding compassion, rigour and tenacity around getting Bert on task, giving him context of the syllabus and supporting his learning. Sean is kind, thoughtful and holds a firm bar on what is expected/needed from his students. For Bert this worked super well, fostering a relationship of mutual respect. We enjoyed to have Sean stay with us during various holidays and he was flexible in his plans to accommodate different needs and locations. Sean is a great tutor and a really lovely guy and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him." (Rachel, mother)

Trusted teacher: his mathematics class is designed to support and challenge students aged 7 to 17, adapting to their school level, learning pace, and individual goals. Whether a student is building foundational skills, catching up, or aiming to excel, the class provides a structured, engaging, and confidence-building learning environment. What the Class Will Be Like 1. Personalized Learning: Each student’s current level is assessed first. Lessons are tailored to match school curriculum requirements and personal strengths or difficulties. Younger students focus on understanding concepts, while older students work on accuracy, speed, and depth of problem-solving. 2. Concept-First Approach: Emphasis is placed on why mathematics works, not just memorizing formulas. Concepts are explained using simple language, visuals, real-life examples, and step-by-step reasoning. Students are encouraged to ask questions freely and think out loud. 3. Age-Appropriate Topics: Ages 7–10: Number sense, basic arithmetic, fractions, shapes, measurements, and logical thinking through games and activities. Ages 11–14: Integers, ratios, percentages, algebra basics, geometry, data handling, and word problems. Ages 15–17: Advanced algebra, equations, functions, trigonometry, coordinate geometry, statistics, and exam-oriented problem solving. 4. Interactive and Engaging Sessions: Lessons include practice problems, short challenges, quizzes, and guided problem-solving. Mistakes are treated as learning opportunities to build confidence. Students are taught multiple methods to solve problems, helping them choose what works best for them. 5. Skill Development Beyond Exams: Logical reasoning and analytical thinking Time management and structured problem-solving Confidence in approaching unfamiliar questions independently 6. Regular Feedback and Progress Tracking: Continuous feedback is given to students and parents. Weak areas are revisited until clarity is achieved. Improvement is tracked over time, not just through marks but through understanding. Learning Environment: The class atmosphere is supportive, patient, and motivating, ensuring students feel comfortable learning at their own pace while being gently challenged to grow. Goal of the Class: To help students not just do mathematics, but understand it, enjoy it, and feel confident using it—both in school and beyond.

Trusted teacher: Playing the drums is both fun and very rewarding, but it also carries a significant amount of responsibility. The drummer is the backbone of any musical community, creating a vital foundation for the other instruments to thrive upon. With a wealth of exercises and content available online at your fingertips to study, I can offer you valuable, personalized advice on three key aspects: technique, time, and touch. I like to call them the 3Ts. Technique: Playing the drums is physically demanding, requiring an awareness of proper posture to safely build the muscles needed to maintain a seamless flow of movement for hours on end. Time: Keeping a steady pulse is the primary focus of being a drummer. We need to build up our confidence to consistently maintain the desired time, even under adverse conditions. Touch: While presenting steady time, we need to open our awareness to make our beat feel good. It’s an attitude. It’s about being musical. This means using dynamics and personalizing our four limbs to create our own unique groove. This is where it gets deep. I love teaching beginners. They usually can jump ahead quickly in a short time. There is no mystery. The way forward means dedicating a little (or a lot) of time daily to the drums. Even just 10 minutes a day can lead to significant improvements. That’s the secret. I recommend using an intensive approach with the classes. Beginners take 5 weeks of 60-minute classes to learn the basics and then continue working on your own, returning for follow-up “check-ups” as needed. For intermediate-level students, I recommend a 90-minute class where I present a comprehensive overview, all tailored to your immediate needs. You then come back for more when the information has been digested. For advanced-level students, the same. There is so much to cover that we can focus on very specific topics. Styles, the rudiments etc... I have a lot of experience with traditional jazz and the rudimental history behind the craft. In the end, it's about creating time to connect with the drums every day. This connection is a wonderfully rewarding and grounding addition to our lives. I look forward to meeting and working with you.

Javier is an incredible teacher! He is not just teaching me piano, but really helping me to understand how music is structured and the reasons behind compositional choices. A very generous and experienced teacher, who is dedicated to broadening my music horizons and improving my playing freedom. I can highly recommend him, especially for intermediate players like myself who feel a bit lost and are looking for structure and direction.

I've just had my first session with George, and I can only recommend him. From the limited information he had, he came well prepared with suitable things to work on. Good paced lesson, and my mistakes were quickly identified and good tips for improvement given. Techniques that I was struggling with were really well demonstrated and explained. Looking forward to my next session.
