About Me
Translated by Google. Click to view original.
I can describe myself as someone in love with music and teaching. During my last seven years of training, I have combined this with my work as a teacher of music and saxophone at the private level and in some schools in Spain and Switzerland. During this time, I had the opportunity to learn from my teachers and my students to develop different pedagogical techniques focused on facilitating the learning of my students, aimed at all levels and all ages. I discovered that when a person is in love with his work, his work is much more effective and the love for music and saxophone is naturally transmitted to his students.Education

Marcos begins his musical and educational training in Tenerife (Canary Islands, Spain), in the Conservatory of Music of Tenerife and the University of La Laguna). His love for pedagogy and music led him to teach music reinforcement and music theory lessons to some of his classmates at the university. During his training in Tenerife he began to participate in different sets of music and orquestes, combining different styles of music (classical, Latin, modern, pop-rock ...). Just after completing his studies in Tenerife (2011) he decided to move to the Iberian Peninsula to pursue his ambitions and he began his bachelor studies with the excellent teacher and saxophonist Mariano García in the Conservatory of Music of Aragón at the same time. He began his career as a saxophone teacher in some schools and academies in Zaragoza. Just after finishing with excellent qualifications his Bachelor (2015) he begins his Master of Education in the University of Zaragoza and at the same time he prepares the admission examinations of the High School of Music of Lausanne. Fortunately in the year 2016 he finds a place as a master student at the Haute Ecole de Musique in Lausanne with Professor and saxophonist Pierre-Stéphane Meugé and also a place as saxophone teacher at the International School of Lausanne / International School of Lausanne, and the following year in the École Nouvelle of French-speaking Switzerland, he successfully completed his master's studies in May 2018.Ask a question

Saxophone lessons for beginner/intermediate/advanced level
Learning basic techniques, music theory, improvisation and ear development are part of the training.
The saxophone course is personalized depending on whether it is a beginner or an advanced student.
Beginner students will learn the solid basics, such as: good posture, good breathing, producing a beautiful sound, scale exercises, reading sheet music, basic rhythmic exercises. We will perform these exercises from different scores, which I can provide if necessary, and at the same time I also try to convey my own experiences. In general, I first show the exercise on my instrument and then let the student try to play it. We often play together.
For advanced students, we will learn more complex pieces, more difficult harmonic and rhythmic exercises, thus expanding the limits of the instrument.
Classes also include some music theory and history of music during class.
I also consider it important to show how one can work effectively alone.

Woodwind Performance, Improvisation, Jazz Composition, and Music Theory with Chris
Chris is a New York City-based multi-instrumentalist. A passionate composer and improviser, he has performed as a leader and sideman throughout New York, Boston, Colorado and abroad over the past 15 years. Chris attended the Manhattan School of Music (MM ‘25) and the New England Conservatory of Music (BM ‘23). He has taught privately and within public schools over the past eight years, and loves to help students cultivate their passion for music and instrumental performance. Students can choose to focus entirely on their instrument (saxophone, clarinet, and flute), or can specifically study improvisation, jazz composition, music theory, and ear training.
While primarily a jazz musician, Chris is trained in a wide variety of musics including classical, which he diligently studied on the clarinet; popular music and R&B; and world musics, including Brazilian (Choro/Bossa/Samba), Latin-American (Bomba/Timba/Rumba), and West-African styles (Agbekor/Gahu).
Some of Chris's many accomplishments include being recognized as a YoungArts Jazz Performance winner for four years in a row; performing abroad in Europe with the inaugural NYO Jazz Band, receiving a Community Performances and Partnerships Ensemble Fellowship at New England Conservatory, and also receiving the George Whitefield Chadwick Medal of musical and academic performance.
Chris emphasizes a teaching approach that prioritizes connecting with the student and engaging them in what they’re specifically interested in, while also covering the fundamentals essential to developing ones skills on their instrument or in their field of study. He offers lessons in person, primarily at students's personal residences, and also online via Zoom, Google Meet, or FaceTime (although in person is highly recommended).

Raúl is a Spanish saxophonist who finished his DIDACTIC MASTER in 2018 at the École Supérieure des Arts in Mons. Previously, he also completed a MASTER OF INTERPRETATION at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels (2015-2017) in the class of Alain Crepin and Simon Diricq.
He studied at the "Musikene" (Higher Conservatory of Music of the Basque Country) with Eric Devallon, Tomás Jérez, Antonio Felipe Belijar and Miguel Ángel Lorente.
Passionate about multidisciplinary artistic creation, he thinks of the mixing of all the arts in the same show as an aesthetic goal. This type of research could be observed in his project for his final master's recital in Brussels where he created a project based on Maslow's theory of the hierarchy of human needs where he mixed live, recorded music, dance, light shows and effects under the name: “according to Maslow... ”
In terms of his career as a concert artist, he has played in different ensembles (solo performances, duo, trio, quartet, orchestra...) and different countries such as Japan (Artisanal Musical Fair "Suono Italia" 2010), Belgium (Festival Musiq3 2016), Artonov Festival at BOZAR in 2016...), France (Dax chamber music festival 2011) or Spain (Music Festival “Quincena Musical” 2015, Aste Nagusia 2015, Heineken Jazzaldia 2014, Festival Kutxa 2015, Intercentros Melómano 2010).
Saxophone lessons for beginners, intermediate and advanced musicians
Are you a beginner?? No worries: no experience is required! 😁
I can teach you the basics to produce sounds with your saxophone: position of the embouchure (teeth, tongue, lips and vocal cords' position, an element often forgotten), fingerings, use of diafragma,...
After the first two lessons spent on the mouthpiece and neck for the sound production, we will immediately start to play some super easy duos together to practice your capacity of listening, pay attention to the other, ear training as well. I normally use the book of Peter Wastall (titled Learn as you play) as support, but it is not mandatory. There are plenty of good books btw!
Are you an intermediate / advanced student?? I am sure you can still improve in all the basics, but on a different level. I'll teach you the importance of the "voicing" (technique named by the american saxophonist and pedagogue Donald Sinta) to improve your sound production and projection as well as the capacity of correcting and improving the intonation. You can learn all about phrasing and music interpretation, from tonal music until contemporary atonal compositions. And still, you can improve your playing together, practicing in duo on different aspects like tuning, balance, interpretation, performance etc.
Book a lesson and try! If you are not happy, give me a feedback and go on. If you are happy, I will be happy to help you becoming a good musician!
