Trusted teacher: Hello, I'm Ana and I'm a graduated violist, a permanent member of Symphony orchestra "Stanislav Binicki" in Belgrade, Serbia. Before passing the audition in an orchestra in January of 2017, I was a professor of viola and violin in a special boarding school for musically gifted children "Skola za muzicke talente Cuprija", for five years. The school is founded and lead by the "Academy of music arts" in Belgrade. There are three schools in the world of that kind: in London, Moscow, and Serbia. My students got 25 1st and few 2nd awards in the republic and international competitions, and all of them signed in to desired academies in Germany, Canada and Serbia as first on the list and with full scholarships. We still keep in touch :) I was a member of the Royal chamber orchestra St. George for four years and took part in many world tours. I played also in National Radio and Television Orchestra in Serbia, Orchestra of National theater of Serbia, National Symphony orchestra of Montenegro and National Symphony orchestra in Sarajevo in Bosnia and Herzegovina. I was a member of orchestras which took part in projects "Bridges for the future" in Bern, Switzerland, “Festival Junger Kunstler”, Bayreuth, Germany, “Deutsch-Skandinavischen Jungend-Philharmonie” in Berlin, “Music days international festival” in Russe, Bulgaria, etc. I am currently a Ph.D. student in the 3rd year of studies in Management for culture and media, on the Faculty of Dramatic Arts, Belgrade. I tend to explain to students as simple and as effective as possible. My students enjoy classes, love to play and ask many questions :) I insist on good technique and posture because even if it takes a little bit more time in the beginning, it makes future progress easy and fast.

Trusted teacher: Besides being very active as a performing violinist, I have also enjoyed teaching children and adults for years. I am a conservatory graduate and also a music therapist graduate. As a result, I have a lot of knowledge and patience when working with children/adults who need specific attention. This includes people with autism, gifted children and highly sensitive children. Of course you are also welcome as an adult with or without extra challenges. I myself have 3 children, 1 gifted and 1 highly sensitive. This has allowed me to teach these children with even more enthusiasm, understanding and patience. It is also possible to indicate in advance in conversation what your child will encounter and how violin lessons can help. For example, with autistic children, think of making contact, feeling. Gifted children experience extra challenges and learn to deal with the frustration that something does not work right away. Of course everyone is welcome with me! I teach from different methods, but look at what is appropriate for each student. I also work on the development of sound performance, solfege, music theory and improvisation. I have a classic basic method, but work tailor-made and see what someone needs. Light pop / film music is also a possibility.

Trusted teacher: Greetings! I am currently studying viola performance and education at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. I also completed a Diploma in Music Education and Performance at the Royal Irish Academy of Music before coming to The Netherlands. I have had lots of experience teaching in schools and privately, and I get so much joy teaching people and helping them learn an instrument. My main goal as a teacher is to help students find their passion and love for music and for playing an instrument. I am also very practical in my approach to teaching, always trying to make things as clear as possible for each and every student to understand. I have plenty of experience teaching people of all ages. I also have a good knowledge of individual personalities and temperament which helps me to tailor the lesson to suit you individually. When teaching young children, I find that using various different games with and without the instrument helps a lot with their understanding and development. This resonates well with their impressive abilities to play for many hours every day - something which I think is very important for young children to make the most of while they have it. My understanding of the lessons is that every student should come out with the best feeling of wanting to improve their playing, and I always try to motivate every student in whichever way works best for them. I am also very open to using different approaches when it is not working for the student, and I am known to listen very well to feedback like this. I am flexible with the styles of music I teach and have experience in many different genres. If you need some ideas, together we can find the music that suits you best. The majority of students who start out do so on the violin, and some change to viola some time later. Some students who begin their musical journey on the violin go on to play not only viola but other stringed instruments such as cello and double bass if they grow away from the violin at any stage - so choosing violin in the beginning will certainly give you the most options.

I feel very fortunate to have found Fiachra to assist my daughter (almost 14) to progress on her violin. She was lacking some confidence having moved countries and needing to change to anew teacher. Fiachra is patient and encouraging but also holds her accountable with setting her homework and checking in with her on her progress.

Aida is really nice and patient. She takes time to understand the level of her students and explains clearly how to play this such difficult instrument, and also she makes you feel confident when you hold the bow for the very first time. Looking forward for my next classes with her.
