This course is fitted individually, depending on the needs of the student.

If the student would like to focus on grammar then the material should be sent beforehand so I can have a chance to look at it and prepare for any questions that may arise.

If the student would like to focus on spelling and/or spoken English then no material should be sent beforehand, just an overview of the request.

If the student would like to focus on reading I'll supply the materials depending on their level.

As for math, I only teach high school students and first year University students. The material for the class should be sent to me beforehand so I can be better prepared to answer any questions.

- What do the lessons entail?
The tutoring focuses on mathematics in secondary education. I help students understand both the theory and its practical application in exercises. If necessary, I provide additional study materials, such as diagrams, summaries, or resources, to clarify the material.

- My approach
I would appreciate receiving an overview of the study material, tests, or assignments in advance that present difficulties. This allows me to properly prepare the lessons and focus on the student's specific needs. This also allows me to better assess the level.

During tutoring, I try to explain the material in a simple and understandable way, often from a different perspective than in the classroom. My goal is for the student to truly understand the material and gain more confidence. Seeing progress and achieving results together gives me great satisfaction.

- Why do I tutor?
Mathematics has always been a great passion of mine. Although my current studies no longer revolve around it, I still enjoy pursuing it. Tutoring is therefore an ideal combination of hobby and extra income for me. Naturally, I always work in a professional and structured manner.

- Experience
Since 2018, I've been tutoring students of various ages, both in primary and secondary education. I also regularly help fellow students with their learning material, which is always a positive experience.

- Who am I?
My name is Arina, I'm 26 years old and I study law. I live and study in Leuven, where I also live in student housing.

I'm an approachable, enthusiastic, and open person. This helps me quickly build trust, so students feel comfortable and confident asking questions. They know they can contact me outside of tutoring sessions if they get stuck on an exercise, and they often continue to do so afterward.

During my own high school years, I struggled with math in my first and second grades. Although I found the subject interesting, I struggled to fully grasp the material because the explanations didn't align with my learning style.

When I started tutoring (at my parents' insistence), my perspective on mathematics completely changed. My interest grew so strongly that I later pursued a degree in economics and mathematics. My love for mathematics has remained ever since.

Because math wasn't a part of my further studies, I decided to tutor myself. This way, I can share my enthusiasm and help students develop the confidence I once had to build.

I am a university researcher and instructor with a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering. I am able to provide one-on-one guidance for a range of topics in mathematics (algebra, geometry, calculus, discrete math, functions and modeling), natural sciences (physics, chemistry, biology), and engineering (fluid dynamics, applied programming, signal analysis, optimization).

My typical teaching strategy follows three steps:
1) developing an understanding of the subject theory
2) introducing real-world applications of the theory
3) repeating exercises related fundamental concepts and applications

Having conducted international-level experimental and theoretical scientific research for many years (PhD University of Cambridge, National Physical Laboratory, Max-Planck Institute, KUL, and UCL) I offer tailored and adaptive tutoring in mathematics, chemistry, and physics.

My main focus is in helping those pupils in their final two years of school who are preparing for university. I also specialize in preparing students for the Belgian medical entrance exam by actually solving the problems of all the past entrance exams and providing tips and insight for rapidly homing in on the correct answers.

My philosophy is that science and mathematics can be related to each person's everyday experience. I try to provide insight and solid foundations so that students will not have to rely heavily on blindly memorizing large sections of their courses.

I am a Belgian student, currently, I'm in my first master's year at the KULeuven. I chose a master's in 'Rehabilitation sciences and physiotherapy specialization musculoskeletal disorders'. During my bachelor years, I developed a very good basic knowledge of science subjects and mathematics: I studied statistics for 3 years, molecular cell biology, chemistry, physics, biomechanics, biochemistry and anatomy.
The quality of teaching of both the University of Leuven as the high school I went to (Heilig Hartcollege Tervuren) is something I am very happy/thankful for. I would love to share the education and the knowledge I acquired by supporting and teaching you or your child/teen. I would consider it as a sort of study pathway counseling. As I already have a bachelor's degree in one of the highest-ranked universities in Europe, I have a broad knowledge of quite some subjects.
