I live in Madrid and I'm a student pursuing a higher degree in singing (jazz and contemporary music). I dedicate a good part of my time to teaching (music and language) through private online or in-person lessons. I started giving private lessons to children at their homes when I lived in Germany. During the 2022-2023 academic year, I taught piano to students of all ages at the RedMusik Music School (Igualada, Catalonia). I studied piano and other instruments for over 15 years at the UGDA and the Luxembourg City Conservatory. After many years of solfège and piano, I obtained the Conservatory's "Première Mention" certificate with the highest possible grade, "Très Bien". A good music lesson should include not only technique and reading sheet music, but also theoretical and harmonic study, improvisation, recreational playing with the instrument, and ear training and rhythm exercises. I am interested in designing the lesson creatively and adapting it to the needs and desires of the student. I started drums at the Dante Agostini school, I stayed there for four years and then I studied jazz drums at the conservatory for three years. I have been giving lessons for almost ten years now because I have always loved teaching and sharing my experience! I am currently part of several groups: ABRAHMA (stoner/doom), DELIVERANCE (post black/sludge) we were notably at Hellfest 2022 on the Valley stage and Temple and Le Cha (pop/funk in French). I was also the touring drummer at the end of 2023/2024 for the band AL QASAR (many international dates including WOMAD 2024 in Australia and Sziget in Hungary in 2023) I have rather rock/metal oriented influences, I was part of the group Sweat and Tears for four years with more than five hours of repertoire, resident at the Temple Rock Tavern (formerly Guinness Tavern). I also have experience in events with jazz bands (covers of standards) and jazz/funk with brass section (Stevie Wonder, Incognito, Jamiroquai, new JB's, etc.) I give lessons in the HF studios of the 9th and 14th so that students can learn directly on an acoustic drum kit, which is very important to me. The course is adapted to the student's level and desires, the goal being to allow him to be autonomous on the instrument as quickly as possible by teaching him the technical and reading basics. My method is inspired by the Agostini method but focuses more on learning pieces.

I have been taking private lessons from Joao for more than 6 months and I am completely thrilled with it! Although I am a beginner in piano, I can see that Joao is very knowledgeable in his field. What I like most is that he utilizes technology very effectively to help me understand tricky theoretical concepts. He also prepares tailored exercises for me, which makes me feel very valued. He really puts his time in preparing homeworks and supplementary documents even before and after the class to be sure that I understand what he is teaching. Joao is also quite responsive. He is very flexible in terms of the course content and willing to adapt to my changing needs over time. Still, as a teacher, he keeps in mind what foundations I need to build and he does not lose track of what I want as an ultimate goal, so he comes with a structured curriculum that I realize over time. I can only recommend Joao if you are looking for a dedicated piano teacher who loves what he does.
