Trusted teacher: I am a tenor enjoying an international career as a soloist in opera and gospel music, and am also passionate about helping you to discover everything your voice can do! Originally from Trinidad and Tobago, I have been appearing on the stages of Europe and the UK for the past 10 years, for example, Welsh National Opera, Opéra de Lyon, Opéra de Lausanne, the Luzerner Theater, Buxton International Festival, Liverpool Philharmonic and many many more. My background, before my operatic days, was in Gospel music and I find that the two styles can go wonderfully hand in hand! My lessons typically last an hour but can be longer depending on your needs, or shorter to begin with. I studied Classical Singing at the Conservatoire in Lyon France, and at the Haute Ecole de Musique de Lausanne in Switzerland, and have an extensive performing career in opera and gospel music. Since 2018, I have been a passionate teacher to voice students of all ages and levels, from young students curious about developing their voices and taking exams, to professional artists performing live and pursuing recording careers. I would be delighted to work with you to build your confidence and vocal technique, to find what you are looking for with your voice! I am an experienced opera singer and vocal teacher with a profound academic background and a rich history of working with some of the most renowned figures in the world of music. I earned my Master’s Degree with honours from the National Music Academy of Ukraine. I also had the privilege of taking lessons with Seth Riggs, one of the world’s leading vocal coaches, who has worked with famous artists such as Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, and Barbra Streisand. I have further refined my skills at prestigious institutions, including the Vienna Opera Academy in Austria, the Georg Solti Accademia in Castiglione Della Pescaia, Italy, where I was mentored by legendary mezzo-soprano Grace Bumbry and celebrated soprano Barbara Frittoli. Additionally, I finished my training at the Lotte Lehmann Akademie in Perleberg, Germany, working with world-class voice teachers and conductors from some of the leading opera houses around the world. I have performed for Hollywood celebrities in Italy and for Ukrainian presidents and foreign diplomats at political events in Kyiv, Ukraine. I have taken part in prestigious music festivals, including the Morellino Classical Festival in Tuscany, Italy, and the Innsbruck Festival of Early Music in Austria. My students range in age from 5-70 years and sing music in a variety of styles including classical, musical theater, pop, and more. I have helped hundreds of singers reach their personal goals which have ranged from matching pitch to winning competitions, getting the leading role in a show or putting together a solo recital to confidently performing at karaoke and achieving their personal best. I'm a certified singing teacher and would love to help you! I teach singing to any age range and in a variety of styles: Classical, Contemporary/Musical Theatre. I teach either at my home in Wimbledon or at the student's home. I'm happy to travel within the London metropolitan area but will adjust the price of the lessons according to the travel costs I incur. Stuff such as Schenkerian analysis that was all the rage in the US some decades ago is an intellectual desert based on a nonsensical proposition of musical universality, with nothing to offer the young aspiring professional performer. Currently I teach and interact in English. I also have professional command of Italian, Japanese, French, Spanish and German. In the past I have taught advanced courses in English, Italian and Japanese. I am able to read Chinese, but I currently do not speak beyond the basics (A2). I may code switch between English and Italian, especially when discussing opera topics and while directing or auditioning singers.
