My lessons combine practical playing with music theory, so students not only improve technically but also develop a deeper understanding of music. Depending on the students' goals, the lessons can also include rhythm training, ear training, and improvisation. I also enjoy working with students who are interested in the creative side of music, including composition, songwriting, and arrangement. I believe that learning music should be fun, and I adapt my lessons to the wishes and needs of the students. Lessons are available for children and adults, from absolute beginners to advanced students.

Every lesson starts from your goals. I build a targeted plan for each student, choosing the right material and practice techniques for where you are now and where you want to go. Lessons cover jazz improvisation, jazz theory, sound and technique, repertoire, and audition preparation. I break difficult concepts into clear steps without losing sight of the big picture: saying something meaningful in a solo, in a way that keeps listeners engaged. About me: I'm a professional saxophonist now based in the Netherlands, with over a decade of teaching and performing and an M.A. in Music with an emphasis in Jazz Studies. In Denver, Colorado I ran my own lesson studio, including jazz combos and saxophone ensembles. My past students have won soloist awards, earned top chairs at all-state jazz and classical festivals, and gone on to study music at respected universities. Lessons are live over video for intermediate and advanced players of tenor, alto, soprano and baritone saxophone. I also teach clarinet and flute.

The music lessons I offer are designed to be a space for discovery and personal growth, free from academic pressure. Whether you're learning your favorite pieces or deepening your technical understanding of your instrument, together we'll explore your needs and desires. Each lesson is tailored to the individual student (if you're learning an instrument and also want to sing, I'd be delighted). Creativity is equally important; improvisation (through the study of jazz) and composition (of music and lyrics) are more than welcome, if desired.
