Hello there!

Do you wish to learn to play the piano but do not have several hours every day to dedicate to practicing? I can help! With 15 years of teaching experience, I’ve honed my methods to facilitate rapid progress and maximize efficiency. My students achieve in months, what usually takes years when following a conventional music school program. Nonetheless, I am not taking any shortcuts. On the contrary, one of the reasons why my students progress so fast is my insistence on building solid fundamentals. I strive for my students to master the necessary tools for them to then achieve their own personal ambitions.

Having observed the practice routines of professionals and university students worldwide, I've realized that there's often much time to be gained during practice. Realizing everyone's personnality, approach, affinities and tastes are different, I prioritize a personalized approach tailored to your individual learning style. Together, we'll make the most of our sessions, whether you're a beginner diving into music or an intermediate player seeking to enhance your skills. And guess what? You won't need to practice for hours on end to see significant improvement. With regular lessons, even just 15 minutes of practice three times a week can lead to enormous progress. As I often say, the learning process is more akin to a marathon than a sprint.

While efficiency is important, I believe that learning should be fun and inspiring. In my lessons, you can expect a supportive and encouraging environment. I'll be there with you every step of the way, celebrating your achievements and helping you overcome any challenges that arise. Together, we'll create a positive and empowering learning experience.

Ready to embark on your fast and efficient piano learning journey? Contact me to schedule lessons and get ready for a rewarding musical adventure! Looking forward to hearing from you!

Acerca de mí
I am Carl, a Canadian pianist of Chinese origin. My musical journey began at the age of eleven when I started taking piano lessons. I received my initial training at the University of Montreal and the Haute École de musique de Genève. Over the years, I have developed a deep passion for song interpretation, which has led me to explore self-study with remarkable success. In fact, this dedication brought me to the finals of the Lied Duo category at the Mahler Competition in Geneva in 2018.

Motivated by my love for music, I decided to further my studies in Vienna. Currently, I am pursuing song accompaniment at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, guided by the esteemed Prof. Justus Zeyen. Throughout my musical journey, I have had the privilege of learning from renowned teachers such as Marc Durand, Roy Howat, Avedis Kouyoumdjian, Anne Le Bozec, David Lutz, Anne Queffélec, Jacques Rouvier, and Dang Thai Son.

I have been fortunate enough to showcase my talents through numerous recitals in Switzerland, Canada, and Austria. The recognition of my hard work and dedication has resulted in receiving various scholarships, awards, and honors. Multiple times, I have been selected as a finalist in the Canadian Music Competition, and in 2015, I proudly secured the 1st prize at the Clermont-Pépin Competition. Most recently, my research on Franz Schubert, part of my doctoral dissertation, earned me the esteemed Globalink Grant from the Canadian MITACS program.

I am truly grateful for the opportunity to pursue my passion professionally and am looking forward to sharing my passion!

Piano Classes

Online or in Vienna piano classes for individuals and groups: stay positive, have fun and develop creatively.

Professional Pianist, Opera Singer, composer and soloist at Madrid ́s Opera House, Innsbruck and Glyndebourne festivals and at the National Music Auditorium of Moscow, winner of many international competitions and a qualified teacher at Kiev and Valencia High Conservatories (Bachelor and Masters Degrees) offers piano, singing and Sol-Fa lessons for all styles, levels and ages!

My piano classes are structured so that students work on the most important aspects of training as a pianist and are tailored to the needs of the student. I give great importance to developing self motivation in a relaxed environment that encourages creative flow throughout the learning process. Repertoire is agreed with the student and adapted to the style of music preferred, together with student needs and objectives. Learn how to play the piano effortlessly and to express what you have inside!

I aim to cater to the tastes and needs of students in an open and individual way and have a Yamaha grand piano that students can enjoy playing on when face to face classes are again possible.

The principles of piano technique I teach are:
- Simplicity and naturalness of playing
- Discover your own style – you don ́t need to imitate!
- Posture, relaxation and stretching
- Improvisation – confidence to experiment
- Aural training
- Confidence building
- Developing your own repertoire

If you want to prepare for entrance exams for conservatories or professional music academies, for competitions, castings or auditions I can help! If you just want to have fun and experiment, I can help with that too!

I teach in Spanish, English, Italian, Ukrainian and Russian.

Asa professional singer, trained at Valencia’s Advanced Conservatory, I can also teach singing and vocal repertoire classes (one to one and tailored to student needs), please see my profile for further details.

I look forward to hearing from you
