Hello! My name is Megan and I offer in-person and online music lessons for musicians young and old, from experienced to advanced. If you are interested in learning to play piano, learning to sing, basic to advanced music theory, and more, you have come to the right place. I am a music educator specializing in voice, general musicianship, and music theory. I am a graduate of the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music at Cal State Long Beach, and a current graduate student of musicology at Utrecht University. I have experience working with students of all ages and skill levels, and I enjoy working in both individual and group settings.

I am a professional pianist, with a lot of experience (10 years) of working with kids and adults who want to learn piano in a friendly and patient way.
I am graduated from the Conservatory of Music of Mexico and I have master in piano at HKU Utrecht Conservatorium.

I am a young violin teacher currently studying with Elisabeth Perry and Rodney Friend. I studied with Stefano Pagliani and Florin Paul in Italy and with Andrés Calatayud in Castellón, now I am doing my bachelor studies in HKU Conservatory. I have experience teaching high level and beginners level players.

My goal as a music teacher is to make the students able to experience all types of emotions by playing music, understanding the musical process from its roots with a creative approach. My lessons are designed according to the specific needs of each student and the main objective is to guide them in the optimal direction to achieve their full potential in a fun way. Thereby, the instrument becomes a tool to understand what making music really means and will be a way for the student to express his emotions. My approach to the lessons can provide a lot of creativity, fun and originality.

How will my lessons look like
From the first lesson, the student will start making music. We will begin learning the basic concepts of music, developing listening and rhythmic skills with fun exercises. Lessons will also be focused on learning the basics of music theory, creating a solid technical base and paying special attention to having a relaxed and healthy body posture. My academic and professional experience has helped me create a teaching method where improvisation is an essential tool for the student. I enjoy working on it from the beginning since it is a perfect way to develop musicality.

Playing different music genres together
As a musician, another of my sources of inspiration is to get to know and to learn from different styles, playing and experimenting with music from the classical period until the most avant-garde style. During the lessons, we will play pop, jazz, classical and many other styles. I would like to explore the instrument with the student in a fun way, growing, improving, and discovering new ways of making music together. During the lessons the students and I could play together, either playing some duos with the cello or accompanying them with the piano, which is an activity that I really enjoy. Playing together with more people and with a polyphonic instrument from the beginning will give the student clues to learn how to play in ensembles and listen to all the different voices that can be part of any musical composition.

She teaches in English, Spanish, Italian, German and soon in Dutch. Lessons can take place at your place or at my place (in the centre of Utrecht) as I have a beautiful grand piano at my disposal. For young, teenagers and adults, all levels, no previous experience necessary.

I have been working for 12 years as a piano and music teacher (I started very very young, when I was 14 years old, because I always liked teaching): I have experience in private lessons and official state music schools, with children from 2 years and adults of all levels, both teaching individually and in groups. I have taught piano, music and movement for children, music theory, solfeggio and choir.

I finished my bachelor studies with the highest marks, I have experience as a concert performer and have won prizes in competitions and several scholarships prizes.

I hope to have the pleasure that we both learn by making music together, do not hesitate to contact me!

The way I teach actually depends entirely on the student. The way I explain the concepts, plan and structure the lessons and approach each subject all depends on whether the student is a beginner, intermediate or advanced, and whether he or she has some experience on the subject.

Each student has different needs and different abilities. It's just a matter of getting to know the student, in order to identify both the weaknesses and strengths on which to work.

I am looking for piano students; I am passionate about teaching. I like children to advance and to be able to contribute something in their life. All ages are suitable to start playing this beautiful instrument. I am very flexible with schedules, and I always try to discipline them.
