I also have a CELTA qualification and I can teach English as a second language. I will set tasks for the student to complete after each class and provide feedback on their work ahead of the next session. Learning a foreign language is not a linear process that consists of memorising a list of words, and speaking a foreign language is not an oral translation exercise.

There are two types of approaches to acquiring knowledge:
