I am Verena and I have a Master's degree In classical double bass (French Bow), as well as a background in studying Electric Bass. I can teach the basics and the advanced skills of approaching these Instruments. The key for someone to love studying music is, I believe, the approach to playing in the first place. I consider myself a very kind and patient person with a passion for teaching and knowing new people. I have always combined classical music with my passion for all stringed Instruments. Here is my passion for the guitar specifically for the acoustic guitar using folk/finger-picking techniques. Due to the difficulty of having access in the first place to instruments like the double bass, I think it is essential to have the opportunity for a first lesson before deciding to invest In an instrument.

Classical double bass lessons in Antwerp for all levels, from beginners to advanced students preparing conservatory entrance exams, auditions or orchestral repertoire. My lessons are adapted to each student’s level, goals and musical personality. We can work on fundamental technique, sound production, posture, bow control, left-hand freedom, intonation, shifting, rhythm, musical phrasing and efficient practice methods. For more advanced students, I offer focused work on orchestral excerpts, audition preparation, solo repertoire and chamber music. The aim is not only to solve technical problems, but to help you play with more ease, confidence, clarity and musical intention. I believe in building a healthy and natural technique, avoiding unnecessary tension and connecting every technical detail to sound and expression. Lessons are clear, structured and supportive, with practical exercises that you can continue developing in your own practice. Basles for young and old Everyone is welcome: young and old. Age does not matter. It is never too late to learn to play a musical instrument. Making music is fun and healthy! Basles for beginners and advanced Everyone is welcome: beginners and advanced. Your entry level doesn't matter. Playing bass guitar is my specialization and I can teach everyone a lot. During a trial lesson we look at what you can already do and what you would like to learn, what your inspirations are and who your idols are. From there we make a plan and we give substance to the lesson. Basles: what do you learn? In consultation with you I give substance to the lesson. Together we will see which music styles, bands and artists you like. We can then choose songs that suit your level and ambitions and I will teach you how to play these songs. Based on the songs and a method book I will teach you the following: -the right attitude -the right techniques -the corresponding theory read notes and tabs read and play chords -training your ears grooves -jams -slaps improvising -flageolettes play You will learn all this in a cozy and casual atmosphere, with professional equipment in my home studio. I regularly perform live with various projects in prestigious venues and jazz clubs, and I have recorded bass on 15 albums, (jazz and pop), on both double bass and electric bass. I have years of experience teaching students of all ages and skill levels, from beginners to advanced players. I also worked with the organization Memo, performing interactive shows in kindergartens.
