Serious endeavouring to entertain through media studies, particularly filmmaking, and current affairs. After studying media and film, I worked at the BBC from 1989 to 1991 mainly as an assistant to chief documentary editor Jane Val Baker. The following years, I directed several short films on communal subjects such as poverty, classism, racism, homelessness, social division and poverty. Throughout this decade I worked on numerous pop video clips (as an art director and director), and also TV commercials, eventually directing a Lee cooper ad. Towards the end of the 199O’s I directed a documentary on the popular hip- hop group the Fugees, before moving to Paris, France where I directed ‘Actress’, a wry comedy produced by the renowned Parisian production company Mic-Mac In 2002 I wrote and directed my first feature film ‘Toothache’ aka ‘Rage De Dent’, a bitter satirical comedy following a group of bored middle class artists and their troubles in love during a weekend in Paris. Starring Julie Depardieu, Ludivine Sagnier ‘Toothache’ (rage de dent) was produced by Arte France Cinema and Mic Mac productions. My second feature length film ‘Nadine’ was shot in September 2006. The film follows a teenage self-harmer her fatal battle with mental health issues. Nadine premiered at the Odyssee Cinema in Strasbourg, France in July 2008 as part of the British cycle of films alongside Ken Loach’s ‘The wind that shakes the barley’ and Stephan Frear’s ‘The Queen’. It was also shown in competition at Ghent film festival and Cork film festival, Rome international Film festival and several other international festivals. Between 2011 and 2016, I was the co-author of several documentaries produced by France Televisions and the French-German TV channel ARTE. In 2019 I was the co-author on the feature docudrama ‘In our paradise’, produced by Idéale Audience and directed by Claudia Marschal. ‘In our paradise’ premiered at DOC/FEST Sheffield in June 2019, and was selected at the Sarajevo Film Festival in August 2019, at the YIDFF in October 2019 and at the Cork Film Festival in November 2019. 2020 saw the completion of my 3rd film as a feature film director with the existentialist thriller ‘Man in wood’ featuring a special guest appearance from the talented singer/actress Lauryn Hill. Whilst also during the same year I created ‘The Black Victory’, an independent production and promotion platform for film, music and cultural content. The teaser for ‘In the greenhouse’, a pysclogical thriller which I wrote and will direct This innovative digital platform has links to several other social network platforms and is currently developing an all female podcast that aims to tackle diverse subjects from voices that are powerful, engaging, yet rarely given the spotlight they merit.

Many students today use AI tools like ChatGPT, but often in an unsafe or improvised way. Legitimate questions arise: Is it allowed? How can mistakes be avoided? How can AI be used without losing control of one's own thinking? This course isn't about shortcuts or "machine-done work." It focuses on understanding AI as a tool and learning to use it consciously and responsibly. We work with concrete examples from the university setting and show how AI can support learning without compromising academic integrity. One of the course's central themes is AI as a research tool. We'll explore how to define topics, formulate effective research questions, and structure a project from the outset. AI can help gain an overview and organize ideas, but we'll also clearly analyze its limitations and the need for critical self-reflection. From there, we move on to academic writing. From developing outlines and arguments to improving style and clarity, AI can be a valuable tool. We demonstrate how to work with drafts, detect inconsistencies, and avoid common errors that often cause problems in academia. Another section is dedicated to learning with AI. Explaining complex texts, clarifying concepts, reviewing content, and checking one's own understanding are especially valuable uses if the right questions are asked. The goal is to use AI actively, not passively. Finally, we use AI as an intellectual sparring partner. Not as a substitute for our own thinking, but as an interlocutor that helps to compare arguments, raise objections, and explore other perspectives. This is where AI's greatest real value often lies: thinking better, not thinking less. The course is designed for students of any discipline. No prior knowledge is required. The goal is to gain confidence in using AI and learn how to integrate it productively and responsibly into university studies.

Justin is a true professional and is really gifted at helping job seekers in their career path. He assisted me a lot with career advice, job application adaptation and proofreading. He is really good at communication, reading between the lines, and highlighting the core idea. Our lessons or as I would rather call it a master class, were absolutely great and easy going. Thank you very much, Justin, for your amazing approach, custom-made professional and easy attitude, and a super international mindset. I would very much recommend it!

I had the BEST time learning to dance with Linda! I have always considered myself to be someone with "two left feet" and was very nervous to start, but Linda did a great job of building my confidence right from the start! Linda tailored the classes exactly to my needs, and was really communicative and flexible with scheduling. I highly recommend her to anyone who wants to learn to dance in Bogotá!
