In terms of education, I have the Degree in Classical Violin and three masters in violin playing, from Katarina Gurska (Madrid, Spain), Prince Claus Conservatory (Groningen, Netherlands) and The Hague Royal Conservatory (The Hague, Netherlands), Throughout my whole education I have always chosen teaching electives and internships. Have you always wanted to play the violin? Or maybe your child is into music and would love to learn to play an instrument? Then, this might be a great opportunity for you to fulfill that desire. If on the contrary you are an advanced student, I would love to help you build solid technique and support your own musicality. On the other hand, I do love all kinds of music. I am happy to work with you in Pop or Folk songs for example. I did play many years in Pop and Folk bands and groups when I was living in Spain and have quite some experience in teaching this music as well. If you would like to, any song can be arranged and played on the violin. I love meeting new students and helping them through their journey with the instrument. Every individual has different needs and goals and as a teacher I work together with every student, giving them the tools, knowledge and support they need to reach those goals. Making music and learning how to do it should be always a enjoyable process. Fortunately, when you like music and have a supportive and experienced teacher, helping you out and giving you the tools you need in every moment, that joy and stress-free music-making comes easily. Trusted teacher: I am a violin and piano teacher from Cape Town South Africa where I graduated with Honours in a Bachelor in violin performance from the University of Cape Town with distinction. Most recently I graduated from the Royal Conservatory of The Hague (2021) with a Master's Degree in Music Education (specialising in violin). I have 7 years of violin teaching experience and 3 years of piano teaching experience. Most of my students have been young children but I have also had students of all ages, from children as young as three years old to adults who are in retirement. Attending Kodaly training at the conservatory has equipped me to teach from an auditory and songs based perspective, where singing is integrated into the instrumental lessons. I also use movement inside of lessons, as I have had some training inside of the Dalcroze eurhythmics approach. This approach sees movement as the embodiment of the music. I also actively incorporate elements of creativity in my teaching, for example creating improvisations, or making musical stories. In terms of my own experience in music, I have performed as a solo violinist with the orchestra as well as being an ad hoc tutti violinist for the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra, and with the baroque violin for the Camerata Tinta Barocca and Cape Consort. I have performed with traditional African musicians and ensembles, as well as with dancers for instance in MusicDance021 which is an interdisciplinary real-time composition project.

I play both classical acoustic violin and electric violin. I like Yulia, my 8 yrs old daughter likes Yulia and here is why: she's the best violin tutor my daughter has had! My daughter is very active and we have had two tutors before and she got on well with the previous tutors on a "fun" level, yet she hardly made time to play violin and each tutoring session became a play date and practicing on violin was a struggle. With Yulia, my daughter actually plays violin now and she's starting to enjoy classical music as well. I find Yulia naturally engaging and for my daughter learning music with Yulia becomes an automatic flow, so she hardly notices that she's had a "long" violin lesson. Now we look forward to seeing Yulia every week!

We feel so lucky to have found Laura as my daughter’s violin teacher. Not only is she a skilled musician, she’s a wonderful instructor who is able to effectively engage with young kids (my daughter was four when she started lessons). I’ve observed Laura as both structured and flexible — her lessons are planned with purpose, but she also has back-up ideas if a kid’s energy isn’t a good match for the day’s agenda. I love seeing my daughter’s skill and confidence grow in such a warm, supportive learning environment. I wholeheartedly recommend lessons with Laura for any child interested in exploring the violin!

Estella is a very positive, always happy teacher. Even though my son has been having on-line lessons with her, we can always feel her positive attitude during the lessons. She is very patient, gives lots of important tips and feedback, which has been helping him to guide his learning, improving in every aspect of it. We can see how much she care about the whole learning experience. It’s been very useful to expend his time while at home doing the lessons. He has been practicing more and has been feeling more motivated since he started the lessons with her. We definitely recommend her as a Saxophone teacher!
