Singing & theory lessons online/ SE LONDON for children, beginners and music lovers of all ages; delivered by classically trained soprano.
Whether you want to sing for fun, be coached through the ABRSM graded singing exams, or brush up your understanding of music through theory lessons, don't hesitate to get in touch.
Singing Ethos:
My belief is that everyone can learn to sing when taught properly and holistically and can experience the joy of discovering the unique qualities of their individual voice. This is a joy which I share with my students and why I find teaching so rewarding. My experience is predominantly (but not exclusively) with children and I love to watch as their love for their voice grows.
What you can expect:
I believe it is important to teach with an emphasis on technique and vocal health, so from the first few lessons students learn about the body and the way the voice works. I address this through exercises and breathing techniques as well as songs appropriate to age and stage; (usually based around the appropriate ABRSM Grades). I strive to create a fun, nurturing environment where learning and confidence can be optimised.
I currently study with Sophie Grimmer, a highly respected and accomplished vocal teacher based in London who has performed at venues across Europe and London such as ENO. Therefore everything I teach my own students is informed by the world class tuition I am lucky enough to receive, (but of course adjusted so that it is age appropriate). This ensures that the tuition I give is always current and reflects the ever evolving industry standards for vocal tuition.
I look forward to hearing from you!

About Me
I am currently in my final year of study at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London having previously studied at Chetham’s School of Music in Manchester. I hold a vocal performance diploma making me an Associate of Trinity College London and have been teaching part time for almost four years. Recently I spent six months abroad, firstly studying in Italy learning the Bel Canto method and secondly in Switzerland performing operatically with Berlin Opera Academy. My training started when I began lessons at the age of nine and as I grew older I recognised the significant and invaluable impact this had on me as a child and why I feel strongly that children deserve to learn music. Through music lessons children can build discipline, sensitivity and confidence. Through properly developing the voice we have the ability to liberate our means for personal expression, story telling and communicating. It also gives us the opportunity to explore our authentic self and celebrate our differences, since there can be no voice quite like yours. Such skills are often overlooked, but teach us plenty about the essence of being human.
My favourite saying is: I don't sing because I am happy, I am happy because I sing.

Music Theory lessons with Dr Jonathan (in person or online)*** Music Theory lessons with Dr Jonathan ***
I am a composer and educator based in South-East London who has recently obtained a PhD in composition from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, having previously studied at Cambridge and the Royal Academy of Music. My passion for music feeds directly into my passion for teaching, and I hope that I can inspire as many people as possible to deepen their love of music by learning to understand it from the inside out.
I have been teaching music for over 10 years both in schools and as a private tutor, ranging from interactive workshops with primary students to university-level one-to-one composition. I have previously been the resident composition teacher at Eton College (2015-17) and City of London School for Girls (2017-20), as well as delivering workshops at schools around the country in a visiting capacity. I am as comfortable working with students taking their very first steps in theory and composition as I am with those who are more advanced, and can teach across a variety of styles and genres including classical, jazz, rock and musical theatre.
As a tutor, I always seek a student-led approach, adapting content and delivery to individual tutees’ needs. Above all, whether in theory or composition, I always try to enthuse students by conveying my own love of music and encouraging theirs. No element of music or musical development can be considered in isolation, and so I seek to link up whatever a student is working on with their wider musicianship and listening – classical or otherwise – to put things into context. Another important part of my teaching practice is preparing tailor-made resources for students which are theirs to keep, ensuring that any material covered can be revised and consolidated.
Time is split between teaching key concepts (including providing tailor-made resources) and looking through student work, always balancing the discussion between aspects of the work which are more or less successful. While most of my theory students take ABRSM theory grades, I also teach theory and musicianship more broadly without focusing on specific exams and boards.

Classical Singing Lessons for beginners and advanced studentsIn the singing lesson we look at breathing, vocal technique, language, expression and interpretation. I take much pleasure in watching a student grow and facilitating their development and helping them on their own path. The most important thing to me is that they enjoy using their voice and telling a story through music.
I have recently graduated from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance with a Master of Music degree with distinction. Through the developing of my private practice, I am becoming increasingly interested and deeply passionate about teaching singing and singing pedagogy. For me, music – and especially singing – is all about communication, between performer and audience, between composer and performer/audience, between teacher and student; it is about conveying a story and human emotions that people can relate to and that give us a sense of connection and belonging. This requires not only a deep understanding of technical skills, but also a sensitivity to the text and the way it is set into music, both melodically and harmonically.

Find your singing voice. A safe and natural technique to sing classical, opera and music theatre.I'm a graduate of the Royal Academy of Music, London with many years experience as a professional soprano. I've sung with the Madrid Royal opera chorus and the Radio television in Spain and am an established International soloist in Baroque, opera and Contemporary music. I love to share my passion for singing and to help singers achieve a relaxed and secure technique. I like to work on different styles so the full range of colours and sounds can be explored. The voice is an amazing instrument.
If you're a beginner wanting to learn the basics or a more advanced singer preparing for exams, roles or auditions, I'd love to help.
Preparation for Royal Schools ABRSM Exams available.
John
Professional jazz musician teaching jazz, blues, funk, R&B, pop, rock, latin and classical piano.I teach online via Zoom, using software which allows you to see the exact keys I'm playing on my keyboard.
My teaching method is to focus on whatever type of music the student loves most, and to build from there. I believe that many people give up their dream of playing an instrument simply because they aren't inspired enough, so my goal is to instill a love for music, whatever that means personally for each individual student.
Everyone learns differently and has their own pace and rhythm. I have some students who like to have a regular weekly or biweekly lesson, and others who just get in touch once in a while when they have digested the previous lesson and feel ready to build on it. Whatever the case, I am very flexible and we can figure out what works best for you.
A bit about me:
Originally honing my skills on the British jazz scene and holding residencies in restaurants and bars around the country, I then went on to tour the world playing on cruise ships, hotels and festivals. I returned to London to complete my master's in jazz piano at the Guildhall School of Music, and during this time performed regularly at Ronnie Scotts, The Vortex and many other venues across the UK. I then spent two years in South America learning about salsa and Cuban music. I now mainly work as a transcriber, writing sheet music for all instruments including full Big Band scores. I have also worked extensively in musical theatre, most recently as musical director for 'Jersey Boys', and on the first US national tour of 'Summer: the Donna Summer Musical'. The video shown below is from my stint playing and directing 'After Midnight', a show set to the music of the Duke Ellington Big Band.

Piano Lessons (Classical Music and Non classical), Music Theory, Harmony, Musical Arrangement, CompositionAt my studio my students will not only learn how to play the piano, but they will receive a complete musical education in order to achieve their musical dreams. I will give all my best so everybody will get the tools for developing their own voice, helping them to master the instrument and teaching them all the theoretical knowledge they’ll need to make their particular personality shine. Openness, joy, dedication, creativity and passion for music are some of the things that you will find in the international environment of my studio. I care about who my students are and what they have to say to the world, and I will help them to develop it from the very first lesson.
In my class you will not only be able to receive piano lessons but also will learn to understand how the music works as a language. If the interest and the profile of the student goes in the direction of the purely classical music performance, the lessons will be focused on a deep and conscious piano technique development, practicing techniques, musical interpretation, history of music, history of the piano, applied harmony on the keyboard, analysis, and score reading by a method that I have developed for over 15 years of experience. And if the students wish, I can help them to prepare for the ABRSM exams and competitions as well. All this is aiming to achieve in a very practical and exciting experience the best results in the fastest way possible. But if the profile and the interests of the students goes on another way, I will give them all the tools they need to understand the language of music in depth, so they can find their own voice on the instrument. In that case the lessons will include contents of piano technique, score reading, applied harmony on the keyboard, composition, improvisation, musical arrangement, music production, recording techniques, jazz and pop music analysis and performance. Both programs can be combined depending on the focus and the profile of the student, or in case the student would like to go deeper in one of the previously mentioned subjects there is the opportunity to take an independent course of specialization on the desired topic. At the end of the semester every student will perform at the winter and summer concerts held every year and will have the possibility of making a recording session with the material worked during the term. With this, the student will not only be able to see his progress and work, but also will give him a direct experience of performing and working on a live or studio recording session, which is a fundamental part of the developing process of every musician.
Hope you can join and if so, I’ll be very happy to teach you!
Camille
