Learning music, is directly connected to the cognition system of our mind, and our cognition is the first step to perceiving the music, so it is essential to understand music and perform it. I am proposing classes in Piano, Composition, and Music Theory and writings. In the class of Piano depending on the student's wishes, we work on different methods, from learning music just as an activity to students who wish to continue their profession as a musician. The class of composition has the same algorithm as the piano class, the method selection is based on the student's wishes. Music Theory is proposed in both classes of composition and piano on the side but for the students who wish to learn music theory separately with more concentration, I offer this class as a separate class too. Class of Harmony and Writing actually has the same situation as music theory classes but students in the course of composition will be more specialized in harmony and counterpoint than piano students and of course, this course is proposed as a separate class too.

My in-home piano lessons follow a solid method forged by extensive teaching experience. I strive to tailor your journey to your dreams: mastering the classics from Haydn to Liszt, simply accompanying your voice, jazz/blues improvisation, etc. By default, my method is structured in two distinct parts addressed together or separately: - CLASSICAL PIANO: the teaching method adopted here corresponds to that provided at the conservatory. However, not everyone necessarily has the time or the desire to achieve excellence, especially for adult beginners or even more advanced players. We can even move towards improvisation and improvement in this area for students already introduced to jazz or bues in particular. Hello everyone ! It is never too late to start the piano :) I teach you how to read American notes, learn chords, rhythm (work with a metronome), pedal, all in order to play with sensitivity the song of your choice. I start the first lessons with arpeggios, which promotes finger mobility and learning notes. Subsequently, we can work with Yann Tiersen (such as "La dispute", "nursery rhyme from another summer" or even "Porz Goret"). From the first lesson you will leave knowing how to play a song! The key is not to rush, work on the metronome and read the notes well. Possibility to sing at the same time. Thereafter, once the major / minor, flat chords are known and you start to familiarize yourself with the piano, I start each session with 20min of music theory (extremely important for reading classical notes). Welcome to my piano teaching studio! I am a professional pianist offering private piano and theory lessons for students of all levels. As a pianist with over 14 years of teaching experience in Europe and the USA, as well as over 23 years of playing/performing, I enjoy motivating my students with music of their own preferred style and interest, whether that be classical or contemporary. My main goal is to promote a positive experience and love for music-making during the learning process. If the student is interested in a more structured approach, I guide preparation for grades 1-8 of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) piano and music theory exams where my students consistently receive highest marks. I also have successful experience preparing students for conservatory entrance auditions, masterclasses, and competitions in the Europe, the USA, India, and Canada. We have class concerts at Pianos Maene for interested students twice per year. I am happy to provide either a more relaxed or a serious approach to learning piano, we simply need to discuss the personal goals and preferences of each student. My own studies are as follows: I have obtained two postgraduate performance degrees at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp: "Concertsoloist" in Piano Performance and "Chamber Music” (under the guidance of esteemed professor Sergei Edelmann). Prior to this, I received my Bachelor and Masters degrees in Piano Performance/Music from the University of Minnesota - Minneapolis (with Prof. Lydia Artymiw) and Texas Christian University, Fort Worth (with Dr. Tamas Ungar). My experience includes collaboration with many different instrumentalists and singers, performing as a soloist and collaborative member in several orchestras, and receiving top prizes in several competitions. While maintaining my performance and recording career in Belgium at present, I am developing my private music studio in central Antwerp and look forward to meeting new students.
