This is a poem that is set in India (Bombay)now known as Mumbai...The poet tries to portray the suffering of the people in the setting due to lack of water and how they get happy momentarily...out of a sheer blessing.
In this class we shall focus on the stanza and the lines and the effect that it highlights...we shall also focus on the rhyme scheme,enjambment,use of punctuation(asyndetic lists) and the explanations behind them...there after we shall give a detailed analysis on the language use: religious connotation,imagery,repetition, alliteration among other techniques...We shall touch on themes and use of tone ...then write down possible questions that may arise from the text before selecting a poem that is comparable to this from the anthology.Our class will thereafter end with a recap on the day's content.
