We can work on developing grammar, vocabulary, writing or speaking skills. Do you need English for work, or travel, studying for school exams or university entrance tests? We can work towards any of these goals. All materials will be provided by email. You won’t need to spend time writing lots of notes but rather on having enjoyable and highly productive lessons. Any age or level is welcome. I have taught children from 4 years of age to adults of 72 years of age; one-to-one lessons or in pairs or small groups. Classes are conducted online via WhatsApp or Zoom. In our first online lesson, I would like to find out a little bit about yourself and your reasons for needing English lessons. When I know what you wish to achieve, I can adapt the lesson materials to focus on exactly what you want to do. I am a TefL accredited English teacher with 16 years of experience teaching one-to-one lessons. I hold three university degrees. I have personal experience learning a new language and can therefore be empathetic in my teaching style as I know how daunting and tough it can be. Trusted teacher: In these neuro-divergent times, the binary division of "one language or two" in bilinguals is perhaps due some contestation, which students are capable of providing. I have always found bilingual production models (and the ubiquitous Powerpoint slide) that university teachers provide a hindrance because of their lack of explicitness and discussion - they are just not relatable as presented nor do they provide much information or examples for monolingual students. Code-switching, a by-product of bilingualism, is now a term that is even found in minority-ethnic neighbourhood grafitti ("can white people code-switch" a found example). Please note that this is a linguistic term, used for switching between two languages, and not between local or social varieties of English. My personal position is that there is no such thing as bilingualism: there is always a language that suffers attrition, and one language that prevails, mostly because of its prestigious standing over the other language. On the other hand, a child exposed to more than one language cannot be truly monolingual. For this course (very popular at universities around Europe both at undergraduate and postgraduate level) we shall go through the terms used to discuss bilingualism, in detail, and then discuss, with the help of published books and articles, who can be considered bilingual (or are we all, one other language lying dormant?). Can bilingualism be defined by the speaker, instead of the "community"? Can it be imposed by the State? Does a bilingual brain function in the same manner as a monolingual brain? These are research questions that emerge as dissertation or thesis topics both at undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

It has always been important to me to explore all the possibilities my instrument offers. And to be honest, I'm not finished yet; the cello has so many facets to discover! I've already tried many different styles. I completed my Master's degree in Contemporary Music at the Basel Academy of Music in 2025. I earned my Bachelor's degree in Artistic Pedagogy in Freiburg. This gives me a solid foundation for teaching the instrument in a playful way and for unlocking the creativity of my students. Can you also find me on stage? Yes, mostly with my jazzy indie-pop band "Partiprivati". We write our own songs and I'm usually responsible for a good bassline :) But also with Percaso String Quartet, with whom we only play string quartet works by women.
