About Me

As an experienced English instructor, I bring a unique perspective to the course. English is not my native language; I learned it as a second language and earned my BA in English Language, my MA in Literature and Civilization, and my PhD in African-American Literature. During my doctoral studies, I lived in Ireland, fully immersing myself in a native English-speaking environment. This experience allowed me to communicate effectively with native speakers and teach Irish students in university-level an English literature course. The SAT is a landmark exam for many high school students. A good exam score can be instrumental in college admissions. This course is designed to provide students with resources to set a goal score, make a study plan, and feel confident on test day. I got a 1530 on my most recent SAT, and I am dedicated to uplifting students to and beyond that score.
I can help specifically with the English and Math multiple choice parts of the exam. With students I will cover both content, the information being tested on the exam, and testing strategies, how to more efficiently and effectively take the test. The essay portion of the SAT has mostly been discontinued, so I don't cover it when tutoring for the exam.
