Piano Lessons in Classical and Contemporary Styles for Beginning-Advanced Levels (ages 6 and up)

Piano Lessons in Classical and Contemporary Styles for Beginning-Advanced Levels (ages 6 and up)

Welcome to my piano teaching studio! I am a professional pianist offering private piano and theory lessons for students of all levels. As a pianist with over 14 years of teaching experience in Europe and the USA, as well as over 23 years of playing/performing, I enjoy motivating my students with music of their own preferred style and interest, whether that be classical or contemporary. My main goal is to promote a positive experience and love for music-making during the learning process. If the student is interested in a more structured approach, I guide preparation for grades 1-8 of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) piano and music theory exams where my students consistently receive highest marks. I also have successful experience preparing students for conservatory entrance auditions, masterclasses, and competitions in the Europe, the USA, India, and Canada. We have class concerts at Pianos Maene for interested students twice per year. I am happy to provide either a more relaxed or a serious approach to learning piano, we simply need to discuss the personal goals and preferences of each student. My own studies are as follows: I have obtained two postgraduate performance degrees at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp: "Concertsoloist" in Piano Performance and "Chamber Music” (under the guidance of esteemed professor Sergei Edelmann). Prior to this, I received my Bachelor and Masters degrees in Piano Performance/Music from the University of Minnesota - Minneapolis (with Prof. Lydia Artymiw) and Texas Christian University, Fort Worth (with Dr. Tamas Ungar). My experience includes collaboration with many different instrumentalists and singers, performing as a soloist and collaborative member in several orchestras, and receiving top prizes in several competitions. While maintaining my performance and recording career in Belgium at present, I am developing my private music studio in central Antwerp and look forward to meeting new students.

Bijles lager onderwijs/Tutoring primary school students

Bijles lager onderwijs/Tutoring primary school students

As a tutor, I work in a calm, patient and personalised way, adapting my approach to each child. I believe it is important for children to feel comfortable so that they feel free to ask questions and are not afraid of making mistakes. For me, trust is an important foundation for effective learning. During a tutoring session, I first look at what the child already knows and where they are experiencing difficulties. I listen carefully to what they find challenging and adapt my explanation accordingly. I then explain the material step by step, using simple language and clear examples that are relevant to the child’s everyday life. I like to use an active and varied approach. Children are given plenty of opportunities to think for themselves, practise and ask questions. Whenever possible, I also use games or fun activities to review the material in an enjoyable way. This helps children remember what they have learned and makes learning feel less difficult or boring. A typical lesson starts with a short review of what we learned during the previous session. We then work on a new topic and practise it together. At the end of the lesson, we take a moment to look at what is going well and which areas may need some more practice. My strengths are my patience, my clear way of explaining things and my experience in a school environment. I enjoy working with children in primary school and mainly provide support with maths, language and study skills. My goal is not only to help children improve at school, but also to help them discover that they are capable of more than they sometimes think.

Singing lessons from experienced singer (EN-FR-NL)

Singing lessons from experienced singer (EN-FR-NL)

Hi! Have you always wanted to learn to sing? Is your voice getting tired after singing (alone or in a choir)? Do you want to be better at singing? Are you curious about what your voice can do? Do you sing in a choir and need extra help putting together the material in between rehearsals? I love passing on the knowledge of my craft. The mechanics of the voice is such a small and intricate thing, and knowing what goes inside our throat and body is a very special experience. I get excited and moved every time a student achieves a new skill, and takes another step towards a deeper understanding of their voice. On top of my experience as a singer and a teacher, I have a degree in linguistics. That allows me to know exactly what has to be done inside your throat and mouth in order to produce a specific sound. I can therefore adapt to each student: if they have an analytic mind, I can explain what goes on inside and what should be done to improve that. If they have an instinctive mind, I can help with metaphor in order to help the phonation. Or both! My method is multi-faceted because each voice is unique, and it is my job to adapt, and not the contrary. How does a lesson work? The first time we meet, we will talk about your journey in the music world. What have you done yet music wise, what artists and genres inspire you, what are your goals. Then we will do what we do in every regular lesson: I will direct you during some warming-up exercises, that include vocal technique work (if you have already warmed up, we just do a few exercises about technique), and then we will work on whatever you want. I ask my students to always come with at least one piece of music they want to work on (or maybe two, depends on the time we have on hands). See you soon! Manon (she/her)

Experienced private Latin dance teacher (salsa, bachata, kizomba, Brasilian Zouk) (12 years of experience)

Experienced private Latin dance teacher (salsa, bachata, kizomba, Brasilian Zouk) (12 years of experience)

During these private lessons, you will learn a partner dance such as salsa, bachata, kizomba, or Brazilian Zouk in a fun, relaxed, and personal way. Because the lesson is entirely one-on-one, each session is tailored to your level, goals, and learning pace. As a result, you can often make much faster progress than in group classes. My focus is not only on teaching dance steps and technique, but also on helping you feel more comfortable in your body, move more naturally, and above all, enjoy dancing without pressure. Many of my students start with little to no dance experience and appreciate having a safe environment where they are allowed to make mistakes, ask questions, and build more self-confidence step by step. I have over 12 years of experience in various dance styles, including salsa, bachata, kizomba, reggaeton, Brazilian zouk, and hip hop. Throughout the years, I have had the privilege of taking lessons from some of the best teachers in the dance world. It is my passion to pass on that knowledge with patience, enthusiasm, and genuine attention to the personal learning process of each student. Most of my students are complete beginners. They come, for example, to learn a new skill, prepare for a special occasion, feel more comfortable partner dancing, or simply reconnect with their bodies through movement. What they appreciate most is the personal guidance, the relaxed atmosphere, and the freedom to learn at their own pace, while still noticing clear progress.
