About Me

Hey!
I am Malou, graduated as a japanologist at Ghent University in 2019. I recently moved to Leuven, where I am completing my second study in music. Despite that new twist, Japan has continued to be a big part of my life. I am lucky enough to still speak Japanese every day with the friend I made here, and to experience unique adventures every now and then. For example, I was an interpreter at the Olympic Games with the Belgian team and I translated for Eiko Ishibashi at the World Soundtrack Awards.
I would like to share my pleasure in speaking the language with other people.

In this course, I teach Dutch on a basis to intermediate level.
All ages are welcome, from children to adults! We focus on basis conversations and expressions that can help you navigate through everyday life in Flanders. The content of the class is adapted to the student's wishes and needs.

I have also obtained a Postgraduate in Korean Studies at KU Leuven. In 2011 I became the winner of the Japanese speech contest organised bij Nihonjinkai in Brussels.
I have a longstanding experience in teaching Japanese as a certified language teacher. I have lived and worked 10 years in Japan, as a language teacher at Japanese universities and Japanese companies. I also worked as a Japanese-English/French translator for several Japanese companies.

My French is not perfect but it's enough to communicate. I normally do classes from 2 hours a time, because one hour is too short.
