I moved to the Netherlands in 2020 to pursue my studies at Codarts Conservatory in Rotterdam, where I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Classical Music (Viola). I am currently continuing my journey at Codarts with a Master's degree in Latin Music. During my time in the Netherlands, I have been part of a wide range of musical projects across different genres — from classical orchestras and chamber music to pop, jazz, and world music collaborations. I've performed with ensembles such as the Jong Metropole and recorded with various pop, jazz, and fusion bands. I am also the bandleader of my own Latin project, La Reunión, and work as a freelance musician with diverse musical groups. Before moving to the Netherlands, I studied Music Education at the University of Costa Rica and worked for several years as a private teacher. I have experience teaching violin and viola to both children and adults. As a teacher, I am kind and patient. You can begin with Level 1 and continue further or choose to start on a specific level. Level 1 - This course is an absolute beginner level. You can hold a pencil and a brush but the starting is so stressful and confusing. You're scared of making a mistake, you don't know where to begin, you're getting lost when it comes to composition or shading whenever you start to draw. I GOT YOU! Those are very common feelings when you start to draw and it can be discouraging, give you a feeling of being stuck or just very dissatisfied with your art. In this course I will guide you through basic traditional art techniques such as pencil sketching, pen and ink drawing, watercolor, and acrylic painting. We will be studying composition, forms, shapes, structure and texture of different objects such as fabric, furniture, animal fur, plants etc. I’ll show you how to achieve depth in your shading, how to understand light, and the effect of fragility of plants or hardship and reflection of metal. I’ll teach you observation, things to look for in the drawing, but most of all I'll give you tools for future independent learning that will save you tons of time while figuring on your own! The key to success is your motivation and time you will dedicate to your homework practice. Level 2 - This course is directed towards people who have some basic understanding of traditional art media techniques such as pencil sketching, pen and ink drawing, watercolor, and acrylic painting. As a previous IGCSE & IB student graduate I understand the stress and difficulty in preparing for both the Mid-terms and End of year exams.
