Hello! My name is Aurel and I am a French Amsterdam-based drummer. Although currently specialized in Jazz music, I have studied various esthetics, and Pop and Rock music, in particular, are part of my background (I played in several pop-rock bands). Therefore I am able to teach a broad panel of music styles. I also have many drum methods and charts at my disposal, and have experience in teaching children from the age of 6, as well as teenagers and adults. Lessons and teaching method: I always adapt to the student's tastes and learning profiles. This is why, during the first lesson, and on a regular basis afterwards, I always take time to discuss with my students (or their parents if they are very young) to figure out together the path they want or need to follow. I will use charts and methods for those who need visual support to assimilate the skills or teach by ear and by demonstrating to the ones who feel more comfortable this way. I also play electric guitar and can jam with my students, which is a great tool for developing band playing skills or simply to have a good time. For those eager to make significant progress, I offer consistent and serious monitoring, with practice recommendations. I can for instance prepare a student for an audition or an entrance exam in a conservatory. If you are willing to improve your understanding of rhythm in general, you can also benefit from my knowledge of Indian Karnatic rhythm concepts, one of the most complete traditional approaches to rhythm. Students who simply want to learn at their pace, to have fun and unwind, are definitely welcome too! About me: In addition to my jazz drums bachelor and master degrees from the conservatory of Amsterdam (CvA), which included a thorough pedagogical training and a specialization in Indian Karnatic techniques, I benefit from 4 years of experience as an employed drum teacher in two French associative music schools (Ecole de musique de Nangis and Conservatoire des Deux Rives, Moret-sur-Loing). I am also an active musician, both on the Dutch and the French scene. My trio mainly tours in France and has played at venues such as the Sunside (Paris), or participated in competitions like the Keep An Eye International Jazz Award. I am also the co-leader of the sextet Chai Masters, finalist of several European competitions (Leiden Jazz Award, Golden Jazz Trophy in Lille, France, 7 Virtual Jazz Contest). Recently, the band was part of Keep An Eye The Records's finalists (March 2022). Its first album "Magic Realism" received critical acclaim in France, Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands. Looking for an experienced private drum teacher? I teach drums one-on-one in Leiden on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. I strive to keep my lessons as effective and enjoyable as possible. During the lessons we focus on different rhythms, fills, drum techniques, music notation and how to practice and be creative. Of course we also play songs and you are welcome to suggest songs you'd like to learn yourself. Once you've mastered a song we'll make an audio recording for yourself to reflect on and to share with others.

I am Keith, a Hong Kong percussionist based in Amsterdam and currently finishing my master degree in the Conservatory van Amsterdam. I have won several major international competitions and have great experience in performing. I have also taught privately and conducted masterclasses to inspire the next generation of percussionists. The best thing of being a percussionist is that you can play and find music anytime anywhere! Whether if it's a timpani or your comb, you can produce so many different sounds and exciting rhythm. With one technique, you can almost play anything! If you are a total beginner with music, percussion is one of the easiest way into it. Instruments sound nice already when you play them. Lessons start from knowing the pulse and developing your groove, to knowing the notes and establishing basic musicality. Then slowly you will explore the vast sound world of percussion, starting with drums, mallets instrument or any objects that you can think of! In the lesson the focus is on technique, speed, reading skills, coordination, all different styles and also what the student wants to play. If you are struggling with speed or if you are just starting to play, good technique is very important. Moreover, a badly learned technique is difficult to unlearn later. You will learn which type of drumsticks are most suitable, the assembly and tuning of your drum kit, the choice of heads and cymbals, etc. I can also help you with the purchase of new equipment. Hi! I'm Marcello and I come from Italy. I've been playing the drums for more than half of my life and a few years ago I moved to the Netherlands to pursue a music education and to establish myself in The Hague as a professional musician and teacher. I graduated from the Royal Conservatoire and minored in classical percussion in the summer of 2022 and I am currently studying drums and composition in the Master programme. I am Lukas, a trained jazz drummer with a broad musical background. During my studies, I delved into various styles, including jazz, pop/rock, funk, Latin, and hard rock. I bring this versatility to my lessons. In my teaching practice, the focus is on relaxed playing technique, timing (microtiming), sound, groove, coordination, musicality, and improvisation. English: As a teacher, I always work from the needs and level of the student. I believe learning music should be fun as well as practical, so I combine technique with direct application in songs and playing with other instruments. My method focuses on gradually building control and confidence behind the drum kit. A typical lesson begins with a short warm-up and technical exercises (sticks, coordination, timing). After that, we work on grooves or fills, often using a play-along track or music chosen by the student. In band lessons, the emphasis is on playing with other instruments, rehearsal structure, and stage presence: how to play tightly together, present yourself on stage, and how to deal with issues that might occur during your performance. My specific skills lie in modern genres such as (indie) rock, metal, pop, and groove-based styles. As a mentor and an active performer in several bands, I can share not only technical knowledge but also stage experience, rehearsal tips, and help with gear recommendation and learning about auxiliary aspects (recording drums, stage tech, etc).
