IB Biology and Chemistry SL/HL Tutoring for IB Students

The IB science subjects can be really challenging, especially if they are at higher level. In this classes you will be able to ask any doubts or to expand your knowledge on how to ace the subjects of Biology and Chemistry at higher and standard level for the IB exams, by practicing with past papers, revising and creating your own notes and diagrams.

A couple of things I like to do:

- Initial test or interview to assess your level.
- Use mock papers that lay out the exercises JUST like in the real exams, so you will feel really prepared.
- If the lessons are once a week, or we have a big gap on weekends, I would like to give some homework.
- I provide any kind of mentoring and college counseling. People who study Biology and Chemistry usually want to pursue a clinical career-- and that is a complex process!
- I like using my Chemistry and Bio books for diagrams and summaries.

Extra information

I will provide the necessary materials but you should bring a notepad for note taking and doing exercises in class.

About Me

Biochemistry, maths, robotics, English, and Spanish teacher who proudly graduated with a 42 in IB :D

My classes are dynamic although if you need something more lecture-y I can do that too. I love allegories and real-life examples, mnemonics, and pretty diagrams. They kept me going throughout high school. And I do share the notes and give homework as needed.

What I love most about teaching is when my students let me share their pride when they get the grades they wanted, and when they also call me to help with something more extracurricular (which calculators to buy, book recommendations...), it really shows trust and on top of everything else, motivation to learn, which is my main goal.

Education

I graduated last year from Newton College studying the IB and now I am taking a gap year doing research in UMH's Institute of Neuroscience. I have the CPE (C2) English diploma and the IB diploma.

Experience / Qualifications

I have been a teacher for four years now, I'm used to adults and teens and children of many ages. What this experience has taught me is that people sometimes just need someone that caters to them academically and just molds to the way their brain works. More often than not, the youngest children just needed someone to help them simplify and focus, and the teens actually needed more help with study techniques and learning to learn than understanding the actual knowledge. But there is diversity in that too!

What I mean is that whatever your needs are, from a 30 minute doubt to a months long plan to get an A in your final maths test, don't be afraid to contact me. Every moment counts towards your future!

Miss Constanza was a true lifesaver for me during a challenging time in my academic journey. As a new student in a different country with a completely unfamiliar education system, I found myself a month behind in the term and struggling in both Chemistry and Math. The first semester was a struggle, but thanks to her dedicated help, I not only caught up but also excelled. One of the things that sets Ms. Constanza apart is her ability to make every lesson enjoyable. Learning with her is never dull, and she effortlessly weaves engaging stories from her own experiences in the chemistry lab, connecting complex topics to real-life situations. Her adaptability is truly impressive. Right from the first lesson, she takes the time to understand your preferred learning style. Whether it's through visual aids, PowerPoint presentations, or traditional book-based learning, she tailors her teaching to your needs. She is also incredibly organized, and after each lesson, she ensures you apply what you've learned through exercises and practical applications. Her support and understanding create a comfortable learning environment, making it easier to grasp challenging concepts. Additionally, her knowledge of the subjects is extensive, and her dedication to her students' success is remarkable. Miss Constanza went above and beyond, helping me not only pass my Year 10 IGCSEs in Chemistry and Math but also instilling in me a deep understanding of these subjects. Her kindness, care, and unwavering support were invaluable throughout our lessons. She was always willing to go the extra mile, even dedicating her weekend evenings to help me review a topic. I am extremely grateful to have had Miss Constanza as my tutor for Chemistry and Math. I cannot recommend her highly enough. I genuinely look forward to having lessons with her again this year. If you've ever struggled with Math or Chemistry, Ms. Constanza can absolutely transform your perspective on the subject and help you excel.
Everything is great.

Constanza is a great teacher. Highly recommended.
...
Scratch is a technological tool widely used by schools today to teach children programming languages. As a student, it is essential to enhance creativity with Scratch or reinforce that knowledge at home, and I can provide all my support in that. Scratch is very important since learning opens the doors to the jobs of the future, which rather, is already the present. As a teacher, it is sometimes difficult to become familiar with new technologies, and being a robotics teacher in 3 schools in Valencia I can help you understand the tool and how to teach it. To take the classes, you only need an Internet connection from your device and a completely free Scratch account.
Time management techniques, tricks for reading, all maths topics... those are just some of the few things we will cover in the class. My preferred method is that when you already know 80% of what you need to know, we can move on to practice full tests.

IB Biology SL tutoring for those in need of extra support with anything biology-related, whether it's to do with anatomy or plants!
I completed Biology HL in IB with a 6 overall. I am now studying it at the university level and am ready to help students struggling with IB Biology SL. I am familiar with the syllabus and can help students break down complex topics into simpler concepts that are easy to digest. We will begin with a lesson in order to get to know each other and see whether our goals align. We will discuss what exactly you need help with and make a weekly tutoring schedule. At the end of every class I expect students to let me know what they need help with next time or tell me 3 days before the next lesson at the latest. This ensures each class makes the most of our time together. At the beginning of the next lesson we will do a few practice questions to revise out previous class and continue with the next desired topic. I am looking for students who are open to receiving constructive criticism. I promise I will approach all of our lessons with patience, kindness, motivation and support!

Biology Classes for IB, IGCSE, MYP and university students
I have worked for 5 years now with kids from international schools helping them in subjects such as maths and biology. We always find the best suiting way to approach the subject together; I have indeed a few teaching methods that can be adapted to a kids' needs, I believe every kid needs a different method to fully understand the subject. I provide 2 types of lessons that represent 2 phases: 1. THEORY - Understanding the theory repeating together each unit. 2. PAST PAPERS - Going through past papers to "simulate" a potential exam. Dividing the process in 2 phases has proven really effective in succeeding not only during the year but also at the final exams.
