    About Me

As a philosopher, it is my job to ask interesting questions, and think about interesting topics. I've learned 6 languages, studied abroad in 3 different countries, and have officially taught students from around the world, both native speakers and those learning English. I would be an excellent teacher for intermediate to advanced speakers who want to target the specific set of academic skills they need to break into the very world of English scholarship.

    Experience / Qualifications

I have 14 years in higher education in English-speaking institutions which have familiarized me with three separate academic fields. I have also studied abroad in Japan, Germany, and (of course) France, and know how frustrating it can be to sit in language classes that focus on the mundane when your real passion is at a much more sophisticated level.

Since 2012, I've personally tutored students from around the world of all ages, and in a variety of topics, from Latin to Research Writing to American Music. I began tutoring English as a Second Language in 2014. I've also taught group courses, including my university course in Philosophy.

English course by an old Anglophobe (7-77 years old)
If you're able to translate this, maybe you do not need any lessons! Graduate of a master's degree in the scientific field (Biology), I practice both fluent English and professional English. I traveled to different Anglo-Saxon countries (USA, England, Australia), and I mentored a colleague for his TOEFL preparation (102/120). The past school year, I followed a student of 2nd at the CNED. On his last 4 controls, his notes ranged between 12 and 16. The first class is used to assess the student's level and difficulties in English (comprehension, grammar, conjugation, ....). In addition to the grammar points, I try to draw the student's attention to the English that surrounds him (music, movies, articles, books, ...). It is by taking an interest in everything that can touch the Anglo-Saxon culture, that learning English becomes easy.

I use the methodology of Mind Mapping (Tony Buzan), which is very effective in learning vocabulary and grammar.

Private lessons in Economics - English / English culture
Currently at the end of preparatory class in economics, and parallel in the second year of licitation of Economy-Management, I wish to offer my help to high school students for English and SES for high school students. I am passionate about the English language and therefore do not offer "academic" courses, but rather discussions to unblock the oral, in a more user-friendly way. As far as the economy is concerned, of course I am also passionate because I chose to study it. These courses may be on a more traditional format, but I will mainly answer questions to understand the course already done in class. My goal is to overcome the difficulties encountered. I am also motivated to help adults if they feel the need for help in English, or if they want to learn economics! I'm in Lyon until the end of May, then Grenoble all the month of June.
