Online Course on the History of Philosophy, from the Pre-Socratics to Postmodernity

I offer classes on History, Geography, and Political Science, with over 11 years' of experience in these subjects, both professionally and academically. I hold Bachelor's Degrees in both History and Political Science (from the University of Florida), as well as a Master's in Political Science, specifically European Politics (from KU Leuven). I have extensive experience in a wide range of historical and political subjects and have always had a keen interest in history and the social sciences. Additionally, previously I have been a journalist (dealing with Competition Law) and currently am an editor working on a wide variety of subjects for organizations such as the UNHCR and Goethe Institut, among others. I am capable of teaching and lecturing on numerous historical and political events and periods in history, with myself having specialized in European history, American history, African history, as well as the Medieval period and Antiquity.

Need help with studying World history or English? Come on down to study with me. I have a bachelor's in Anthropology and Theatre. I have a wide range in both fields of the humanities. We will be focusing on history and the important human connection intertwined with each. This will give us a deeper understanding of the customs we have and seeing how they evolved to our present era. With a special connection to English since the humanities is a writing heavy skill this will naturally overlap. I hope to study with you soon.

I adapt to the profile of each intern or student according to their objective and level. The goal is not to work endless hours, but to show how to be able to work alone or partially independently in a short time. Everyone who engages with politics (which is to say, everyone) has an ideology. But not everyone is conscious of- let alone consistent in their ideology. In fact, most people’s conscious politics are nothing more than an inconsistent aesthetic. But anyone who has a world they long to see owes it to themselves to at least be self aware of their own ideology, and they should probably also familiarize themselves with others as well. I can help on both fronts. This 10-session class serves as an introduction to the concept of political ideology. We will begin with a brief overview to various major academic theories of ideology, before moving on to a taxonomical survey of different ideological genuses and families, both “thick-centered” ideologies, that is, ideologies with a comprehensive core specific enough that they can stand on their own as it were, such as liberalism, conservatism, socialism, and fascism, and “thin centered” ideologies, which have much broader and hence much less specific cores, and hence must attach themselves to other thick centered host ideologies in order to fully manifest themselves, such as populism, nationalism, feminism, and ecologism.

This course introduces secondary and sixth-form students to the evolution of global civilizations, with a focus on comparative history, political thought, and social transformation. Drawing on 30+ years of experience teaching History and Liberal Studies in Hong Kong—including at A-Level and university level—I guide students through themes such as colonialism, revolutions, global conflicts, and modern political ideologies. Each lesson combines primary source analysis, critical discussion, and structured writing skills (essays, arguments, and document-based questions). This class offers personalized instruction in philosophical and/or sociological theory, suited both for students seeking academic support and for individuals with a general interest in a philosophical topic. Assisting with structure, referencing, possible sources to include, and checking spelling and grammar I'm currently undertaking a PhD in Global Environmental Politics at the University of Lincoln (UK) but based in Amsterdam. I have previously completed an MSc in Environmental Policy at the London School of Economics (LSE, UK) and a BA in Philosophy at the University of Bristol (UK). I have extensive experience teaching Bachelors students on Politics and International Relations modules, including running workshops on essay writing, setting and marking essays, and providing constructive feedback for improved essay writing. Beginning with the agricultural revolution, and then the industrial revolution, and then the World Wars, investigate what led up to the Cold War. Investigate the irony of thw historical streams colliding into one with the irony of many newly liberated countries being sucked into the global battle being waged in the north. A look at a dozen of so case examples, to include Korea, Guatemala, Iran, Cuba, Chile, the Congo, Indonesia, Vietnam, Chile, Nicaragua, and Honduras, of the consequences of the Cold War. A look at modern events from Iran, the migration crisis, Cuba, Venezuela, Russian and Ukraine through the lens of the Cold War never having ended.

I am a history teacher, having graduated with honors from UNLu and honored by the National Academy of History as the highest national average. I have been focused on private education for over half a decade, both at the academic and secondary levels. Beyond my specific academic training, I have been dedicated to the study of history and social sciences for 20 years (and to the creation of a library—of almost 2,000 volumes—that is available to students: if any material is required, it is digitized and sent). I specialize in ancient history, medieval history, Argentine history, history of religions, and more. I have extensive knowledge of philosophy, theology, and the history of ideas. I also teach classes in politics, sociology, anthropology, art history, economics, and other social sciences that make up the corpus of history as a discipline.
