My name is Pauline, I am 20 years old and I am a piano student at the Bern University of the Arts. I am currently in my 3rd year of bachelor. I give piano and music theory lessons for all levels. My goal is to share with you my knowledge and my passion for music, as well as to help you progress as much as possible.

My name is Margarita. I am a graduate of the Moscow Conservatory and HEMU du Lausanne. I have been teaching violin for 8 years now. I teach both beginners and advanced students. My students must be 3 years old. My students are winners of international competitions. I give both individual lessons and group lessons with small students (3-6 years old) (if the students are in a city). We play a variety of pieces with the students and learn to play in an ensemble. I teach according to my method and also use the Suzuki method and others. When teaching music to children, I also teach theory and Skills in reading music, and my students have been composing since the first lesson. My lessons promote musical hearing, the sense of rhythm, the intonation of the voice and the coordination of movements. I also promote students' attention, memory and thinking. The 5 string banjo is an amazing instrument. It's driving trademark sound and it's African roots has contributed to many music traditions, including Country, Bluegrass, Blues, Jazz and world music. In my class you'll first learn the basics, how to hold and pick and read tablatures. We'll then go through how to play a tune, accompany other instruments and finally, improvise. During the year I'll teach you basic music theory like rhythm, harmony and a bit of ear training to help you develop your understanding and relationship to the instrument. We'll mainly play Bluegrass Scruggs style at first, then we'll dive into melodic style and sigle string, that will all be useful for playing other kinds of music, like Irish music, Pop, Jazz or Blues. I am a professional violinist graduated in Music at the Musikene Conservatory in the Basque Country (Spain). This year I ́m going to start studying Master Music Performance Klassik in Bern. I offer private violin and theory lessons to all ages. I have worked in a music school in my area giving violin and theory classes to children and young people from 4-18 years old. But I also have experience in teaching people over the age of 18. My way of working with each student is different but I focus a lot on motivating each student and this is why I take into account their musical tastes and encourage them to come to each class wanting to learn and happy to make music. My focus is on the styles of rock/pop/jazz and improvisation. I would also be happy to delve into music theory and show you the basics (and beyond...) of harmony. If you're not a grader, it doesn't matter! My first piano lessons were very note based and almost ruined my playing! I'm a firm believer that playing songs by ear from the start helps us absorb songs faster. Whether its European Classical, mainstream Pop, Indie Rock, a Latin-American Folk genre or Jazz, all music can be well performed when it is adequately approached and researched. It is a rather special method which is characterized by a lot of singing, creativity and rhythmic games, which was invented for the education of the people, not for the musical elite. Its effectiveness is proven by many musicians who have grown up in this extraordinary system.
