I am a professional bass trombonist, I have been teaching for over 5 years from beginners to college level. I am from the United States where I have taught private and large group lessons. I am currently a Masters student at the CvA and teach tenor, bass, and contrabass trombone. Through my experience I have found it crucial to start lessons with setting goals for each student; from simply enjoying to advance your skills to competitions or college auditions. Just like any art that you wish to learn, practicing is a vital part to succeed, therefore starting with fundamentals and slowly advancing our techniques into repertoire is a very personal experience and we all learn at different rates. With this one on one lesson each student has the convenience of setting personal goals, taking different routes to succeed, and overall enjoying the interaction between teacher and student. I always like to begin lessons with a trial lesson, normally lasting around 30 minutes. This will allow me to learn more about the student and their aspirations. Likewise the student will learn about my teaching methods and the structure of the lessons. I'd be more than glad to share more information about my experience and educational background. I give instrumental lessons in trombone, piano, cello and music theory lessons. I aim to provide a thorough grounding in fundamental technique, whilst allowing the student to explore the music that they are interested in. I can help pupils achieve grades but I do not focus extensively on moving through grades, in favour of exploring a broader range of music and styles.

The trombone has been a staple instrument in music for centuries. This course is designed for people in grades 6-8 who are planning on playing trombone or euphonium in high school and are looking for some instruction outside of their regular band class. DISCLAIMER: I am making this course primarily due to the fact that schools are closed because of the coronavirus. Once things calm down, we can do your private lessons in person if you prefer. I have made district honor band multiple times and participated in this year's Georgia All-State Band. I have also played in multiple community bands through the years, I have attended multiple honor bands at universities such as Reinhardt and Young Harris, and I have been In West Forsyth's top band since freshman year. Why take lessons from me? Taking lessons from a professional will ALWAYS be more beneficial if you are wanting to improve your playing. However, if you are also looking to: prepare for high school, make honor bands, and make your high school's top band, I can help you prepare for all of these, as I've prepared for these myself. Additionally, if you have any questions about marching band, I can answer your questions for this too. I've marched for two years now and if you want to know what it's like, or if you should even do it, I can help you.

These classes are to provide you with instrumental tuition on trumpet and trombone. In these lessons you will explore technique and practices for your chosen instrument. This will include working on different exercises and playing through pieces. In a standard lesson, we will work through a warm up to begin with, followed by a recap of the previous lesson and any questions from prior practice. We will then work on a piece or exercise, looking at it in depth with a particular focus each week. The lesson will then end with a round up of the lesson along with questions and a practice strategy for the next week.
