Flute Lessons - with Joy, Beauty, Stories and History Facts!

We all need something in our lives that sparks joy, rewards commitment, and brings people together; why not access this through music?

As a teacher, I love seeing students feel joy at playing the flute and making their first sounds when they understand how a composer wrote their music and when I share some fun history facts to help inspire interpretation.

Ultimately this class is for those who want to improve their skills on flutes of various kinds - modern flute (dwarsfluit), baroque flute (traverso), and recorder (blokfluit). It includes a range of beginner musicians until advanced, younger children and senior adults. You can choose which music you want to play or I can help you select some pieces.

More specific instructions in the lessons will center around; how best to interpret and express a piece of music, which flute techniques are required for this expression, and how this relates to the human body.

It can be difficult for students to meet each other, so when possible within COVID regulations, I like to organize an end of term concert for my private students so we can build the music community together.

Please check my website for additional information,

Thank you for visiting.

About Me

Hi there! My name is Georgia and I am fortunate that my professional practices are also my greatest passions in life. For the last 10 years I have played different flutes professionally in solo, chamber and orchestral settings. I love music-making, being part of the music community and research and history.

However alongside my musical activities, I found myself more and more curious about learning, communication and wider-societal issues. I developed a flute education program at the Erasmus Primary School in Melbourne before moving to the Netherlands 5 years ago and have been privately teaching for 8 years.

For the last two years I have been tutoring English, focussing on speaking skills for students whilst also proof-reading and providing grammar instruction.

I have been working at Conscious Kitchen the Hague, a non-for-profit tackling the issue of food-waste, for the last year and a half. I have been managing finances and accounts as well as volunteering, often can found be making a very large pot of soup on a Thursday night!

Piano Lessons with two Grand Pianos. Preparations for ABRSM and Competition.
There are two grand pianos at the location in Den Haag. There will be enough distance between the student and the teacher. For children, it is important to develop basic musical skills through Singing, Rythmique, and Ear training besides piano playing. I use one technical exercise book, the main textbook, and a theory book. Through these 3 books, students learn different aspects of music and they naturally get ready for exams and grades. After acquiring basic skills, students study Harmony and Chord exercise too. These are useful for playing pops and jazz, and they obtain a deeper understanding of classical pieces too. Private Piano lesson, from age 4 above. Children can start the lesson after being able to read the number from 1 to 5 and the alphabet from A to G. Advanced students who want to prepare for competitions, auditions, ABRSM, GCSE, IB exams, or the entrance exam of the conservatory. The concert is held annually together with students of flute, violin, and composition teachers. For the age 1-7 years, I have group Rhythmique lessons.

Rui
Piano and Music Theory lessons in The Hague and Voorburg
Hello there! Welcome to my profile. I am Rui and I teach piano. The piano is known as the most complete musical instrument of all. This is because when playing it we can get all kinds of characters and sounds: very deep basses or super soft high notes; delicate melodies or dense harmonies (almost like an orchestra sometimes). This is one of the reasons why I love to play the piano, its versatility adapts to my everyday mood. I would love to show you the wonders we can create with this amazing instrument! Lessons Every student is different, and by saying this I mean that I prepare every lesson specifically for each student. Some might be more shy, others might need more time to acknowledge some questions. I believe that music (much like everything else) should be taught with patience and motivation. You shouldn’t feel like you’re going against time, it should be the opposite. As a teacher, I always give priority to your motivation and excitement regarding the lesson’s activity. If I see that a student is not enjoying the lesson I have to improvise and turn it around. When teaching, the most important thing for me is that you learn while having fun. I have already some years of experience in giving piano lessons to people for all ages. I adapt the lesson content for every student individually, and I always give them the freedom to follow their musical taste and instincts. I also give a lot of focus to creativity and improvisation. At the end of the lesson, I usually save a few minutes for the student to decide what he/she wants to do: maybe a little 4-hand improvisation, or maybe play a piece they have already learned and that they enjoy playing. About me Most of my studies and experience as a teacher took place in Portugal. I completed my Bachelor Degree in Piano Performance in 2020. I moved to The Netherlands in 2020 to attend the Master Program in Classical Piano Performance in the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague. My academic studies were built on classical music but I also have some experience in pop and rock music. I hope this motivates you to study piano with me! Looking forward to seeing you soon during your first lesson!

Piano and Music - "Every pianist should focus on being a complete and balanced musician"
"I am a pianist. I started playing the piano at the age of seven and I am passionate about music. I am fascinated by the world of pedagogy, understanding that teaching is helping to learn. I am committed to my work with dedication and enthusiasm, and I believe that motivation is the key to both teaching and learning. I want to educate in values and I am committed to the pursuit of educational quality, based on equity and excellence. I am flexible and adaptable to each person, I like teamwork. I appreciate discipline, rigour in my work, effort and resilience. My aim is to help students learn constructively and to help them become autonomous as soon as possible. The focus is always on the student." I STRUCTURE THE CLASSES IN THREE BLOCKS, which I consider essential: - TECHNIQUE: through exercises and studies we must develop technical ability. -WORKS OF ALL STYLES: we learn from the great artists of all periods. -INTRODUCTION TO JAZZ AND MODERN MUSIC: we will create a routine to work on improvisation and develop creativity. These are the paths I propose, but each student is free to develop what he/she wishes. I also complement the classes with musical language and harmony. Every pianist should focus on being a complete and balanced musician. We must develop aural skills, sight-reading, mastery of musical language and harmony, composition, improvisation, creativity, a critical spirit, good taste in music, and above all, a passion for music.
