Do you want to play the harpsichord, basso continuo, or piano? I am a professional harpsichordist, concert performer a​nd teacher based in The Hague who was working in a Conservatory and many music schools during my studies. We can make a flexible schedule depending on your plans.

First of all, you shouldn’t choose an amateur teacher for the reason of a cheap price. I struggled to play the piano at a young age because I had a bad amateur piano teacher before I found a better teacher who had certain experiences and knowledge as a concert pianist. After years of trying to remove serious bad behaviors and techniques in the piano, I became very conscious of using my body proper way while practicing. Since then I have had no injury and everything stays very natural in my body. It took more than 10 years to get this method in my body. Now I’m ready to share it but also I need a certain concentration from students in my lesson. Young students who need to prepare for competitions, auditions, and exams are appreciated with great passion. Also, serious amateurs and beginners are very welcome. Biography Shintaro is considered a unique pianist as performing modern and historical pianos parallel. He spent his childhood and student years in Japan. He already received first prizes at several known national piano competitions in Japan while he was studying at Kyoto City University of Arts. In the year of his master's graduation, he gave a solo recital in Kyoto, and his recital was considered as one of the best performances of over 200 concerts in the year by the AOYMA Music Foundation. He earned The AOYAMA Music Awards in 2010 and graduated master of piano performance in KCUA with summa cum laude. He continued his career as a soloist with several professional orchestras in Japan. Some of those concerts were broadcast on TV and radio. Shintaro continued studying the piano at Lucerne Conservatory with Konstantin Lifschitz supported by Hella Siegrist Fonds and AOYMA Music Foundation. He performed the Left-hand concerto by Ravel with the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra and James Gaffigan in KKL Lucerne Concert Hall in 2014. "A brilliant pianist with solid technique and sensitivities" - Luzerner Zeitung 2014 “Elegantly and with creative power, Shintaro presented Mozart's Piano Concerto in E-flat Major KV 449, the layers of sound always audible, the dynamics balanced. It was surprising that the jury awarded him second prize. “ - Freiburger Nachrichten 2015 At the same time, his interests carried forward him to play chamber music, Lied duo, and historical practices on historical fortepianos. He received the first prize at the Orpheus-Swiss Chamber Music Competition participated by master students of all Swiss conservatories in 2014, and the second prize at The Rotary International in Lugano. Shintaro moved to the Netherlands in 2015, and he completed his master of fortepiano (historical pianos) at The Hague Royal Conservatory. He has worked as an accompanist and ensemble pianist for the Rotterdam Philharmonic orchestra, Opera2day, Residentie Orkest in Den Haag, Noord Nederlands Orkest. He also performed Brahms's “Deutsch Requiem” with Shuann Chai on historical piano and Luthers Bach Choir on the tour in 2020, "Mad King" by Maxwell Davies in New European Ensemble on the tour in 2021, a chamber music concert with François Fernandez and Yun Kyung Kim at the Beethoven Festival in 2022. Shintaro is a member of the New European Ensemble for the new opera “Don Quichot” by Vanni Moretto (composer) and Stefano Pintor (Librettist) collaborated with Opera2day and La Fonte Musica in the tour 2023.

I'm offering productive music lessons in a friendly environment. I'll guide your development from any level. Depending on what you aim for, I'll choose nice pieces/songs and interesting exercises. I always care about leaving my students with the necessary tools for practice on their own when I'm not around to guide them. I studied with internationally known pianist Jin Ju at the International Piano Academy “Incontri col Maestro” in Imola, (Italy), I have a master's in Piano from Florence (Italy) and a bachelor's in Composition from the Royal Conservatory in the Hague (Netherlands). I am a composer and pianist and I give piano lessons to kids and adults of a wide range of levels! In my classes, my goal is to approach piano playing in a holistic way, starting with a healthy posture, but also musical expression. We will work on memory, on the dependency of each hand and finger, integrating in every lesson the music theory and singing along with exercises on rhythm (TAKADIMI system of rhythm solfege) and last but not least, creation (through improvisation and other creative tasks) which will offer you the possibility to craft and master in a deeper level your piano skills. Learn to translate your creative ideas into your music! During these lessons you learn composition techniques to create your own compositions or to improve them. Techniques to help you to give a voice to your musical ideas! Your tunes for several instrumentations, e.g.: strings, woodwinds, brasses, percussion, jazz, pop/rock, or various combinations. We discuss what your musical preferences are and which way we go. In any case, fun is paramount! There's also the possibility to learn about Harmony and Keyboard Voicings (Chords/Harmony), and/or Jazz Hanon (Chord-Melody). These methods can be put into practice with Harmony Progressions (also with your own Compositions/Tunes, etc.), so we we can see how Harmony works with the concept of Functional Harmony and beyond. The lessons are for all ages/levels and are taught in Dutch, English, Spanish, Catalan or Portuguese. Online lessons are also possible via Skype, Zoom or Face Time!

I am an American harpist holding degrees in harp from the University of North Carolina, the National Conservatory of France in Lyon, and currently studying at the Koninklijk Conservatorium den Haag. I am happy to teach students of any age and skill level in the Hague area, either at my home or yours! I am able to teach all styles of playing from classical to jazz and pop, and I am happy to cater my teaching to the interests of the student. I am fluent in English and French.

For beginner piano students, I use the Hal Leonard Student Piano Library and Suzuki Piano School. I can teach fluently in both English and Turkish as well as in some Dutch (improving all the time). I completed my Bachelor of Music in viola performance at the Koninklijk Conservatorium in Den Haag with a minor in Music Education. At the same time, I have a certificate in teaching artistry from a certificate program called ‘The Global Leaders Program, where for my fieldwork assignment, I traveled to Chile and Jamaica and there I taught music intensively to kids who are underserved. I believe that a good teacher is one who is open to learning (because learning never stops) and who has experience in various situations. I am a very experienced teacher with an open mind and I am here to help you or your kid to learn an instrument in the most effective and fun way.
