A performer across opera/oratorio/musical theatre, she has taught since 2013. Claire received her early training at Seoul Art gifted school, prestigious institutions for gifted young musicians in Korea. She went on to earn her Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance from Seoul National University, graduating with honors. Claire continued her studies in the United States at Boston University, where she completed her Master of Music in Classical Voice Performance as a scholarship recipient. Her academic path was marked by both outstanding achievement and a strong foundation in vocal technique, performance, and stage interpretation.

Alongside her formal education, Claire has built an active performance career spanning opera, oratorio, and musical theatre. She has appeared in opera productions and concert performances in Korea and abroad, interpreting leading roles in works from the standard operatic repertoire as well as contemporary stage pieces. In addition to live performance, she has taken part in various recording and collaborative projects, continuously exploring ways to merge classical artistry with broader stagecraft. Her stage work reflects a focus on expressive delivery, text interpretation, and connecting vocal sound with dramatic gesture.

Teaching Experience

Since 2013, Claire has maintained a private voice studio, offering tailored instruction in classical voice, musical theatre, and vocal coaching for auditions and competitions. From 2023 to 2025, she served as a vocal and voice coach at Union Lesson Studios, and from 2024 onward she has also been teaching at Merry Melody Music Academy. In these roles, she has guided students ranging from beginners to advanced performers, helping them refine vocal technique, expand repertoire, and prepare for auditions, competitions, and stage performances. Her teaching emphasizes the integration of breath management, resonance, diction, and dramatic expression, ensuring that students not only develop technical mastery but also discover their unique artistic voices.

I've been playing the piano and studying music theory now for years. I play professionally in a band, sometimes several; I can read sheet music and teach it to you, and I can get you to understand some key music theory, confidently, in easy-to-understand terms, way easier than expensive years of college at any number of music schools. And I can make it fun, too, I'm willing to bet.

This is PERFECT for you, if you like or want to understand music beyond the boring frills and tribulations of classical music, and instead you'd like your own flavor of music to be a little more, ah, "contemporary".

With influences ranging from The Doors and The Beatles, to The Decemberists, to Dr. Dre, to retro video game music from the NES like Mega Man and Castlevania, to Classical Hanon, and everything else in between; I can give you some of the most helpful and easy to understand tips on the market.
