Jazz Piano, Improvisation, Comping, Harmony, Rhythm

I am a graduating student at Conservatorium van Amsterdam studying jazz piano under the supervision of the masters in the school. I have experience in teaching beginners how to start improvising. You can trust me, I will push you and make you learn it. Improvisation can be learned if the right tools are offered to the beginner. I know what methodology works for upbringing a beginner to start improvising, swinging, composing a tune. I can guide through all the scales that jazz musicians use, common chord harmonies used by Bud Powell, Mccoy Tyner, Herbie Hancock - and most importantly ideas behind it; or you might think you know scales and can't use them in creative way, I will teach you how to make it a logical language. Swing is the most important element in improvising in a jazz context, and I will guide you on how to practice getting the swing feel, that drives jazz music. Generally, I give lots of assignments, papers, so it would be nice the student knows how to read sheet music. If you are a beginner or intermediate who needs a push to get to know common, complex improvisational, compositional, harmonical ideas, contact me.

If you are an intermediate/advanced level, our lessons might be even more adventurous, pushy. I will share everything I know. Looking forward to meeting you :)) feel free to contact me for inquiries.

Eduardo
Saxophone, Clarinet, Piano and Music Theory classes taught by graduates in Music Performance
Hi! My name is Eduardo, a professional musician and long-time music teacher. I am offering physical and online lessons in Music Theory, Improvisation and Instrument. #Harmony #Composition #Solfège #Saxophone #Clarinet #Piano Lessons are addressed to every student profile, regardless of age, level of expectations (no matter if it is seen as a hobby or rather if the individual is getting prepared for official Conservatory auditions, etc.). We will play and/or focus on what the student is willing to deepen into (whatever music style they are interested in, more theoretical aspects or rather practical ones), trying to get the maximum profit of the employed time, and prioritizing the actual learning of the person as the main factor for their motivation. I obtained my Jazz Music Master's program at the Prince Claus Conservatoire of Groningen in June 2022. Previously, in 2018, I graduated from my music Bachelor's at the Conservatorio Superior de Música del Liceu in Barcelona (Spain).

Seen Tung
Piano/Music theory/Composition & Arranging lessons tailored to your needs and wishes
Hello, this is Seen! I am a pianist, composer and arranger from Hong Kong, currently studying at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. I am offering piano and music theory lessons tailored to your needs and wishes. Perhaps you are an enthusiastic adult beginner, or you want to pick it up again after not touching the instrument for some time? Or perhaps you are looking for a teacher for your child? I have been giving music lessons for the past 9 years to students at different levels aging from 5 to 60. I understand that we all approach music in various ways and everyone needs different styles of guidance. I am looking forward to getting to know you and experiment with how I can help you along the way. Perhaps you want to play pieces from the classical repertoire? Or perhaps you want to acquire the skill of learning your favourite pop songs by ear, or learn to read lead sheets and chord symbols? Perhaps you want to learn to accompany yourself singing? Perhaps you want to learn improvisation over chord progressions? As a musician grew up with classical music training and later moved on to explore jazz and pop, I enjoy helping you to deepen your understanding about different styles and to have fun with playing! Perhaps you’ve always wanted to improve your piano technique, but get turned off by studies and scale practice? Perhaps you wish to acquire a stronger sense of rhythm or a more sophisticated control of sound? In my experience, advanced technique comes along with a tension-free body and mental space, and we can work on that together. I also find creating unique musical exercises that adapts to students’ needs makes the learning process more enjoyable. Perhaps you would love to integrate music into your daily life, but find it challenging to keep the momentum and interest in a long term? I try to structure our lessons so that students can see steady progress. I also understand that incorporating a habit can be a tricky part, so we can also develop study and practice plans together and explore ways to make your practice time more efficient. Perhaps you not only want to learn the instrument, but are also interested about the theories behind the music? Perhaps you want to learn some basic arranging skills and write for an ensemble that you play with? Perhaps you want to try composing your own music? As a composer and arranger, I would also love to share my experience on these subjects with you. Music is an enormous universe and there are always new territories to explore. I’m still a student on this journey, and I’m more than excited to share my experience and accompany you on your way!

Play only what you like! - Sound Design and Electronic Music lessons in Ableton Live, Logic Pro, hardware instruments and/or Max MSP
Music is Play! and everyone is its own game. Understand and make only the music you like. If it isn't fun, it can't be music! I studied a classical piano bachelor, and later a jazz master and a live electronics master. In the meantime, I have been teaching music and playing synths, drum machines, and computers. It's longer than 5 years now! Electronic music is a very vast world. The possibilities are endless. But do you need to learn everything, or only what interests you to make the music you want to do? From listening and analyzing a song you like, we will go through the necessary knowledge for you to achieve it: - What do you need to build your home studio in order to create something similar? - Which instruments (or plugins) are being used. - Whether or not a knowledge of music theory is necessary. - And in which different ways / through which paths could you achieve something like what you desire? At the same time that we analyze and learn, you are also going to be encouraged to create! Practice makes the master, and the more you create, the more familiar you'll be with the tools and the environments that we learn in class. A part of the class is also going to be dedicated to listening to what you created and going through different ways we may improve it. For people interested in live electronics (live-processing an acoustic instrument or programming live sets), I also have knowledge of Max MSP and I can teach the basics or help you program any kind of device you propose. PD: I have also experienced imparting piano lessons, which is also a very important part of my professional practice. In case you are interested, it is also possible to mix the two worlds and create any kind of path between piano, synths, beats, and home studio techniques. Ask me anything, I'll tell you how I could help!

Music lessons: Double bass, bass guitar. Jazz, classical and world-music. Learn how to study
Hey there! In my lessons, what you want is the most important. That's why we create together a plan of study with ideas, goals and subjects to reach out our dream to make music (that's also my dream) Nevertheless, I can give you an overview of the content: I divide the music theory in two: Technical and Musical. Technical Theory regarding all the concepts and information related to music, and Musical Theory regarding the ideas and concepts to help us understand and improve the performance of music. Besides that, we look to harmony in a functional, rhythmical and organic way. We learn and approach music from the first lesson, looking at it from different angles (understanding rhythm and essence of a song for example). All this plus a nice diet of assignments and exercises: D Furthermore, we put especial attention to enjoying music. That means playing but also listening music! For me, that's one of the best ways to learn :) And of course, we learn as well by making mistakes, so at the end it's all about fun and trying things out;) Remember: "True success isn't just getting what you want in life - it's liking what you get";) César
