Swahili Basic Course - Learn at your own pace from zero to A1 level

Translated by Google. Click to view original.
Swahili is spoken in Kenya and Tanzania. It is the most widely spoken Bantu language in Africa.

In my A1 course I take you from zero to A1 level.
In the beginning it will be a bit awkward, with small sentences, but at the end of the course you will be able to have simple conversations, such as buying fruit or booking a room.

Knowledge and facts alternate in this course. We cover vocabulary and grammar of the language. The pronunciation will also be discussed, and we will practice small conversations.

Topics covered include:
- greetings and introduce yourself;
- Various groups of nouns;
- Count;
- Sentence structure;
- Present, past and future tense;
- Direct object and indirect object;
- Ask for directions; shopping at the market.

About Me

Hujambo,

I first came into contact with Swahili in 2000 during my internship in Tanzania. 5 years later I decided to pass on my knowledge of Swahili to others.
But East Africa, and especially Tanzania, is my second home. Until 2019, I spent large parts of the year in Tanzania as a tour operator and tour guide.

I love transferring knowledge and seeing people grow. So teaching has become my job and hobby: 3 days a week as a tourism teacher at HBO and also Swahili at least 3 evenings a week.

During the lessons I not only take the time to talk about grammar, but culture is also discussed. Their worldview is so beautifully reflected in their language.

Had my first Swahili lesson last week, teacher Cynthia is definitely recommended. I found it very pleasant. Good teaching material and certainly what she sends you by email, the exercises and music as a gift.

This is the continuation of the beginners course and leads to A2 + level. The course starts with a short review of the material from the beginners course and then continues with the more complex grammar. Topics that are discussed here include: the weather, the little words, safari, narrative, writing letters and topics related to your own destination. Speaking skills and writing skills become more important in these lessons. For example, it is expected that you can give a small presentation, and you will be challenged to do the emails to the teacher as much as possible in Swahili.
I have been giving Swahili lessons since 2004. Both beginners and average speakers. Although private lessons are always adapted to your own learning needs, I try to combine both grammar and conversation skills in the lessons. In addition, culture also comes up for discussion, because in my opinion it is inextricably linked to language.
Swahili is the language spoken in Kenia and Tanzania. In this course I will teach you both the language and the culture of these countries. To reach A1 level I will teach you the basis grammer. We will include dialoges as introducing yourself; buying fruits on the market, asking for directions. To reach A2 level I will teach you more in dept grammer. Dialoges included are talking about weather, work and hollidays. To reach B1 level we will continue with more complex grammer. And you will be asked to perform presentations on different subjects.

KISWAHILI NA USTAARABU WAKE: Swahili lessons for beginners, advanced learners, travelers, professionals and those interested
The design of my lessons is varied, follows current scientific findings on language acquisition and implements the demands of modern foreign language didactics in teaching practice. I pay particular attention to the following aspects: Development of communicative and pragmatic language skills through a systematic, progressive development of linguistic skills and in particular through the active use of language. Courses for adults, children and travelers who either want to travel to Tanzania, simply learn the language or want to get involved with the language. Various topics are discussed and everyday language is practiced. Experience shows that you can learn to understand a new language better and more easily through dialogues and discussion opportunities. Goals: Learn new expressions and the art of language, discuss various topics and learn vocabulary, use grammar, independently form simple sentences, conduct simple dialogues, deal with current topics and discuss them. Furthermore, the ability to conduct dialogues and understand what is being said should be achieved.
