My name is Lonne and I give violin lessons to children and adults with great enthusiasm. Everyone is different, one shy, the other very unrestrained. In your own way and at your own pace, I want to teach you as much as possible. In the lessons I pay attention to teamwork, music games, a healthy playing position, fun, musicality and technique. I have studied different methods and can therefore find the right method for a person. For beginners I often use the "method of the 21st century", in which students learn to play the violin in a playful way. For students it is instructive and fun to show what they have learned on violin lessons, that's why I hold promising moments every year. I graduated from the conservatory in 2014. Besides teaching with great enthusiasm, I work as a soloist and play chamber music in various ensembles. I also play in orchestras and I work in light music. I give private lessons in Zwolle to students of all levels. Mainly piano lessons, but also chamber music and music theory. Students of all levels are welcome. The classes can be in English, Spanish or Dutch. The duration and frequency of lessons is flexible, depending on the age and preferences of the student. Normally for adults or teenagers the lessons are one hour long and for younger children a bit shorter, but it depends on the individual. As a professional classical violinist, I offer violin lessons to both children and adults in the Zwolle area. I have a master's degree from the Rotterdam Conservatory and have more than 10 years of teaching experience. Please feel free to contact me for more information or to make an appointment for a trial lesson. TRIAL LESSON In order to know whether a student is eligible (physically, musically and mentally) for violin lessons, an appointment will always be made for a trial lesson first. During the trial lesson I will get to know the student, I will perform a number of tests (motor and musical), I will check the violin for quality, size (if it concerns children) and completeness, and if the previous matters are in order, I will then give a trial lesson. I will also answer any questions you may have about the lesson conditions. LESSONS PLANNING Although the lesson time is in principle always agreed upon each time, it is preferable that the lesson is held on the same day and time every week. If it concerns a novice student, this is even essential. The reason is that a lot is involved in establishing a good basic violin technique and a good basic technique is essential to continue to progress in the long term. In this phase, a teacher must be able to intervene in a timely manner if things go off the rails. Because a basic learned incorrectly is very difficult to unlearn. The regularity of the lessons is important to provide the student with sufficient time to process what has been learned. Only for the more advanced student, lessons can also be given every other week. CLASS LOCATION The lessons take place at my home in Heino or at the student's home. CLASS DURATION A lesson lasts 60 minutes. READING NOTES Whether or not you can read music is still unimportant in the initial phase. In fact, the first lessons will not cover notes at all. This is because it is very important to learn to make music with the ears and from empathy. Of course, being able to read music from a certain level is indispensable, but if you start doing that right away, the emphasis is too much on the visual and that is not good. After all, the notes emerged from the music, and not the other way around. TEACHING MATERIALS As long as the level is such that notes do not play a role, the student's memory and the notebook will be the only teaching material. When the student is ready for notation, he or she will switch to simple textbook methods in which both reading notes and melodies are literally taught through play. As the level progresses, the material will become increasingly difficult and the books will be adjusted accordingly. We will soon move on to duets in which the student plays together with the teacher. This is not only fun to do, but also forces the student to listen extra carefully / use their ears. Just like the violin, the teaching materials must be purchased yourself, although photocopies may also suffice in the initial phase. I teach for all levels, from children starting from zero to students who want to prepare certifications at the Conservatories, passing through amateurs or simply curious of any age. I firmly believe in the importance of knowing how to read music and this is exactly what I teach first, obviously adapting the method to the age of my students: knowing how to read music is knowing one more language, which, if learned well, won’t ever be forgotten (like riding a bicycle!) and it is an invaluable wealth. Starting from that point I teach the position of the hand, the arm and the whole body at the piano, the fundamentals of the piano technique (giving great importance to the percussive movement of the finger and the distribution of weight), the understanding of musical language, the expression of the personality through the keyboard, the search for touch and knowledge of piano repertoire.

Hello! I've been teaching continuously for over 10 years, and I'd like to explain what you can expect from a class with me. Personalized approach: The most important thing is to know what you want to achieve. I will tailor the lessons to your needs: playing for pleasure at home is not the same as preparing for entrance exams (although always with the same rigor). Your goals will influence the methodology, the organization of your studies, the repertoire, and so on. Relaxed (but rigorous) environment: Once you've defined your goals, classes will be dynamic and pressure-free. Note! "Relaxed" doesn't mean undemanding; we'll just avoid military methods—especially given my personality and sense of humor. Music, not just notes: My methods are very dynamic, with a special emphasis on hearing and musicality. No "read, play, and turn the page." I avoid approaches obsessed with reading sheet music without memorizing, listening, or understanding what is being played. I want you to own your performance and make artistic decisions. Warning! I might even make you sing. No stylistic barriers: Thanks to my training in Jazz and Modern Music, I give equal importance to all genres.
