Catalan is a romance language used by more than 11 million in Europe. Nowadays Catalan is fashionable because of its social movement in Catalunya, the fame of Barcelona and the multiple touristic attractions. In this course, the learning process is practical and combined with an immersion on the Catalan culture. My method is based in creating visual scenarios in which you will discover the words to use and the right way to make sentences in that situation. Once we can have a small conversation in that scenario, we will repeat it at the next meeting and it will be included in our "refresh quarter" which is a 15 minute revision on all the words and ways of saying that you keep learning. My focus is on connecting the language to your needs and wishes to make sure the learning is well grounded.

In my classes I will be happy to teach whatever the student is up to. Having the interests of the learner before the class in order to have time to prepare some activities and materials, I am open to teach both Catalan and Spanish as I am bilingual. If students want to learn grammar and vocabulary, or they are more interested in slang, or they even want to learn about cultural elements, I am open to everything. As I don’t know Dutch, the lessons must be in English; but if the student is advanced I will speak Spanish or Catalan, however, if any misunderstanding I will change to English. I am a student with a degree in Humanities, so I know a lot about literature, history, art and philosophy, so if the student needs help with these subjects it would not be a problem at all.
