Mijn naam is Maaike, ik ben 25 jaar en in mei 2018 afgestudeerd aan Conservatorium Haarlem, richting zang.

Van jongs af aan speel ik al met veel plezier piano, zowel klassieke- als populaire muziek, en ik begon er ook al snel bij te zingen en mezelf te begeleiden op piano en gitaar. Tegenwoordig schrijf ik ook zelf liedjes, voor mezelf en anderen, en speel ik mijn repertoire live met een band onder de naam MYCA. In juni 2021 heb ik een masterstudie Songwriting afgerond aan het Conservatorium in Rotterdam.

Sinds 2017 geef ik privé of duo zangles, pianoles en gitaarles aan huis in Haarlem. Wil je jezelf kunnen begeleiden? Combinatielessen zang/piano of zang/gitaar zijn ook mogelijk!

Welcome everyone!
My name is Mariela, I am a classical singer, musicologist and singing teacher based in the Netherlands.

Are you passionate about singing but you don’t dare to do it in front of others? Do you have singers that inspire you and would you like to get closer to their music? Are you too shy to even try to sing? Are you a member of a choir and want to develop your personal voice technique? Then you have come just to the right place!

I have more than 10 years of experience in signing and choir teaching. My method is based on a healthy way of producing sound, trying exercises that benefit the student and that are a totally personal experience. The genre? Your decision! Classical or pop, the choice of repertoire is a two-sided exercise, both you and I create a portfolio that will not only test your voice but will excite you and make your study fun and enjoyable.
The classes are individual and last 45 minutes for teenagers and 1 hour for adults. They can be in person in Amsterdam (Oost) or Hilversum (NL) or online.

My teaching method meets the student's needs. Above all, I try to make people keep their passion and taste for music and my main goal is to make music or art a pleasure and not a sacrifice.

I motivate students, showing them the benefits of exploring their unique talents, but also not hiding the need for continuous work and with some obstacles, sometimes difficult, to overcome.

I let the students bring their own musical choices and, over time, I also recommend material that I think may be useful for a faster, simpler, and more efficient evolution.
As I said, I focus on the pleasure of singing but also on the technique that allows us to achieve the best results with less effort.
I hope that my way of teaching will work with you, but we always have to adapt to the needs and personalities of each one.

The lessons will delve into both the technical and musical aspects of piano playing, theory, reading music, harmony, ear training, technique, pedagogy and more. My aim is to equip students to understand different music styles, build confidence, discover their unique voice and continue their musical journey independently. As Thelonious Monk said, the piano ain’t got no wrong notes.

I'm passionate about traversing genres since I have studied both jazz and classical to a high level, making this class perfect for creative pianists and composers who want to go beyond reading music off a piece of paper. Trinity/ABRSM curriculum upto Grade 8, can also be optionally included. Teaching effective practice methods is a priority, ensuring students progress confidently and without leaning on me. Please note, I only teach in person to maintain high standards of guidance in technique. This is not possible via video conferencing. Since everyone asks: yes, I did study at Berklee College of Music as an undergraduate for some time, and I do help students out with their audition preparation for various music colleges!

Currently, my students are between 14 and 74 years old— I believe that it’s never too late or too early to begin your musical journey. I look forward to your requests and have two vacant spots remaining in my roster for Winter 2025. Book now!

Cursus I: Zanglessen

De zanglessen zijn ontworpen op basis van de behoeften van de student, wat betekent dat we tijdens de lessen zullen werken aan wat er verbeterd kan worden om u het meeste uit uw zangstem te laten halen!

Tijdens de lessen leren we oefeningen om de stem op te warmen en af te koelen (dus een pre- en een post-workout); we werken aan vocale techniek, doen specifieke oefeningen op basis van specifieke behoeften; we werken aan het repertoire en kiezen geschikte liedjes volgens uw smaak en wat het beste bij uw stem past. Maar bovenal gaan we PLEZIER hebben tijdens het leren en verbeteren!

Voor de eerste les is het ideaal om één liedje mee te nemen dat je goed kent en dat je graag zingt en het liefst al zong. Heb je nog geen liedje? geen enkel probleem, we beginnen met leuke oefeningen en we kunnen samen een liedje kiezen om aan te werken!

Cursus II: Gitaarles

Heb je ooit je gitaarvaardigheden willen verbeteren met als doel je stem te begeleiden tijdens het zingen? Tijdens deze lessen kunnen we samen op zoek gaan naar de beste manier om jezelf te begeleiden, met de gitaar als ondersteuning voor je prachtige stem!

Je leert mooie intonaties, linker- en rechterhandtechniek en hoe je kunt grooven met mooie ritmische patronen.

Music is Play! and everyone is it's own game.
Read, understand and make only the music you like. I think if it isn't fun, it can't be music:)

I studied a classical piano bachelor, and later a jazz master and a live electronics master. In the meantime, I have been teaching music. It's longer than 9 years now!
Most of my students learn piano. With the starter ones, I use my own system to equally help them grow all the needed skills: body consciousness (to avoid lesions or bad habits), music theory (including writing and reading) and improvisation.
Usually most songs are made of melody, chords and rhythm. From there, I can help you understand how a song works, how is it written, how does it translate to the piano... and voilá! You'll know the song by heart, and will be able to play it a bit different every time, because you won't be following a set of pre-imposed instructions. You will understand how a small system (a song) works.
This way of learning can be applied to any song, from any century or style. Understanding is key! Play Chopin, write rock songs, play Monk, Bill Evans, the Beatles, make a lo-fi beat, play Beethoven, play the Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter and Star Wars, play video game music, play salsa! bachata and make people dance, laugh or cry.
Music is very powerful!

PD: I have also experience imparting electronic music lessons in Ableton Live and Max MSP, which is now a very important part of my professional practice. In case you are interested, it is also possible to mix the two worlds and create a any kind of path between piano, synths, beats and home studio techniques.

Hey there! If you have been thinking for a while about learning to play, improvise and read music scores on the piano, then this is the sign to start!

My name is Enrique and I come from Andalucía, Spain. I am a Classical Piano student at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and I would be pleased to be your teacher. It will be great to teach you how to play your favourite music on the piano, but also about its language, reading and writing, that is, the music theory, or even how to start improvising your own music.

All of this is actually interconnected and it is interesting to combine them in teaching. I adapt to any age, level or taste (you may prefer classical, jazz, pop... everything is welcome!). Lessons can be taught in English or Spanish.

He estudiado ópera y canto lírico desde los 12 años además de canto jazz, coral y de musicales. Llevo actuando en musicales desde el 2015
Estos estudios me han dado un montón de herramientas para poder adaptarme a lo que cada alumno necesita y quiere, porque lo principal es que no dejemos de disfrutar de la música.

Mis clases están basadas en tres fundamentos. El primero es tener un método claro, que parte del funcionamiento real de la voz, la fisiología (lo que dice la ciencia sobre cómo usamos el cuerpo para cantar) y que se puede aplicar a cualquier persona, paso a paso y con sentido. Siempre pongo en primer lugar la salud vocal del alumno, y me apoyo en lo que está comprobado científicamente. Uso un lenguaje sencillo, sin tecnicismos innecesarios, para que todo sea fácil de entender y tenga lógica.

El segundo es lo emocional y psicológico. Para mí es clave conectar con la persona que tengo delante, entender cómo piensa, cómo se percibe, qué le bloquea y qué le motiva. Así puedo adaptar las clases a su manera de ser y a sus objetivos. Intento crear un ambiente relajado, con respeto, confianza y también sentido del humor, donde cada uno se sienta libre y cómodo. No todos nacemos con la voz que nos gustaría, pero todos podemos desarrollar lo que tenemos, y en ese camino el canto se convierte también en una forma de conocerse y aceptarse mejor.

Y el tercero es la entrega y la seriedad con las que vivo este trabajo, que me apasiona de verdad.

Todas las clases se dividen en el calentamiento y vocalización, la segunda parte estará dedicada al trabajo de una obra adaptada al nivel del alumno y al estilo que más le guste. Independientemente del estilo y del nivel se establecerá una base de canto lírico.

Mi enfoque para las clases de canto se basa en desarrollar y mejorar la voz de manera técnica y expresiva, mientras disfrutamos del proceso de aprendizaje.

1. Conciencia Corporal:
Comenzamos trabajando la postura, la respiración y la relajación para preparar el cuerpo como instrumento vocal. Teniendo mayor concierncia de nuestro cuerpo, tendremos mayor conciencia del uso de nuestra voz y nuestro canto será mas natural y fluido.

2. Calentamiento Vocal:
Realizamos ejercicios específicos para activar la voz, incluyendo escalas, arpegios y técnicas de resonancia. Estos ejercicios ayudan a mejorar el rango vocal, la afinación y la proyección.

3. Trabajo de Repertorio:
Elije una canción que te guste (o la elegimos juntos) y la exploramos en profundidad. Desarrollamos la técnica vocal aplicándola directamente a la interpretación, trabajando en la expresión, la dicción y el estilo musical.

4. Desarrollo Personalizado:
Cada clase se adapta a tus necesidades y objetivos. El progreso se mide a través de canciones que reflejen tus intereses musicales, garantizando una experiencia única y motivadora.

Hallo! Ik ben Didac Barber, een professionele concertpianist en ervaren docent uit Spanje, nu woonachtig in Nederland.

Ik behaalde een master in pianospel aan The Hartt School (VS) en volgde mijn opleiding aan ESMUC Barcelona, waar ik les kreeg van internationale toppianisten zoals Adolf Pla en Luiz de Moura Castro. Ik heb opgetreden in heel Europa, de VS en Azië en geef al meer dan 15 jaar pianoles – op conservatoria, in privéstudio's en internationaal online.

Mijn passie ligt niet alleen in presteren, maar ook in het helpen van leerlingen om te ontdekken waartoe ze in staat zijn. Ik ben toegewijd, empathisch en geduldig – en ik wil dat jij net zoveel van je leertraject geniet als ik ervan geniet door het te delen.

Elke student is anders, en dat geldt ook voor mijn lessen.

To learn how to sing, you will need to learn two aspects: the technical aspect related to body awareness and the purely musical aspect of language. My teaching method is based 50% on technique and 50% on practice:
the first part of the lesson will be dedicated to exploring vocal techniques and body awareness
the second half will be spent singing your favourite songs, gradually putting into practice what we have done previously.
Every student is different, and singing is the most subjective instrument there is, as it is composed of flesh and bones, so the lessons will be tailored to your needs.

Hello! I’m Leticia, a professional soprano from Cuba, now living in Amsterdam. I’ve spent years teaching at the National Conservatory of Music in Cuba, performing as a soloist, with choirs, and in ensembles of various formats, sharing stages nationally and internationally. My experience spans classical, jazz, salsa, and traditional Cuban music

I’ve just arrived in Amsterdam and I’ve recently started learning Dutch and I am getting more confident in English. Even though I’m working on many personal goals, what truly drives me is the desire to work especially in the field I love and have dedicated so many years of my life to, helping students of all ages discover their musical voice, whether it’s singing, playing piano, or understanding music theory.

I strive to make every lesson fun, pleasant and most importantly comfortable for each student’s pace and process.
