Welcome to my online Piano Class.
I am Maria Papadatou, and I will happily help you achieve your musical goals, from zero to the top.
I love all student levels, but only towards the CLASSICAL piano, of any eras' works and composers.
Don't be afraid, my lesson is human-friendly 😊
Everything goes step by step! Outside the lesson time, I send you lots of short videos to support your practice through the week.

As each student is different, I focus on each ones' needs and I am always creative in helping you learn through the simplest ways - "if it's easy, it's correct", that's my motto!
My greatest happiness is to watch my students grow, overcome any limit and expand in full potential!

As a result, many of my students have won top prizes at major international competitions, as the IBLA Grand Prize, the Spoleto International Piano Competition, the Bach au Jazz (Lilia Boyadjieva) International Piano Competition and many others. And also, at renown online competitions, as The Royal, the IYMC, the Forte Academy, and many-many others.

Also, very important, I'll help you understand and approach each composers' unique style, and, also, secure your concert / stage presence, with simple and effective solutions for memorisation and control.

I am a very proud piano teacher, as on Jan 11 2026 four young students of mine were awarded by the renown American Competition "The Royal Foundation" and were invited and performed at a Gala at the Carnegie Hall in New York City! Also, these kids were invited to participate to the Juilliard School festival, with masterclass and lessons, a fabulous chance and experience that I wish all young pianists could have!

On Sept 1st 2024 three awarded students of mine were invited to perform at The DiMenna Classical Centre of Music in Manhattan, from another American competition, the International Youth Music Competition.

Lessons are online and can be through WhatsApp, Viber, Messenger... etc.
Please, message me to find the best time slot for both of us, especially if we aren't at the same time zone.
Students from Asia are very welcome, as in my time zone (+2.00) their afternoon is morning time for me (my actual afternoon schedule is full)
I also speak French, Italian and few Russian, but lessons are only in English, as this is something I am very familiar with.

You may bring your own scores or, I recommend and provide you the right ones for your age and level (for free)

For our lesson you just need:
- an acoustic or - at least - a good digital piano (88 keys),
- a videocall app
- a wide-screen smartphone or a tablet or a laptop,
- your passion for music

About Me

Hi, I am Maria Papadatou, an experienced piano professor, since 1997.

My students have being awarded in numerous international competitions, live (in Greece, Italy, USA) and online. Four of them got invited to perform at the Carnegie Hall in NY on Jan 2026 and to participate at the Juilliard School Festival 10-12 Jan 2026.

Also, I am the author of 5 books on the piano pedagogy, the "magic piano books"
I've also created an e-book - free to download from the Greek Open Library. This is a very useful booklet, giving to the parents of the young piano beginners all the essential information for a healthy start.

I had the luck, as a student, to be guided by excellent Russian piano teachers, and I have seen how effective is the Russian piano school on every child's musical development and technique. I teach these fundamental principles, and I am proud of all my students' progress.

I am also a mother of three wonderful girls!

Experience / Qualifications

I have performed for several years, in solo piano concerts, as member of a piano duo, and with orchestra in Athens, Greece and Poros island.

Since 1997 I teach all piano repertoire levels.
The musical and technical skills I give to my students and the high level of knowledge allow them to perform with great success in piano recitals and exams, and to win prizes in piano competitions.

Since the pandemic I began teaching online and I believe that if both the teacher and the student have the appropriate equipment, the music lesson can be very effective and offers both to them the chance to connect no matter the distance.

Pianist, sound artist and music educator offers music lessons at home. The main objective is to use music and sound as a means of expression. Back in Athens after ten years in France, I did my school years at the Pallini musical college and lycée, I hold two master's degrees in Musical Studies, from the University of Athens and the University of Paris VIII , and also graduated in piano in the last higher cycle. At the same time, I am trained as a specialized educator for vulnerable groups, I followed the DEM course in electroacoustic composition from CRD de Pantin. I had the opportunity to collaborate with various institutions such as the Philharmonie de Paris, the national opera house in Athens and several conservatories in France and Greece. These experiences gave me the necessary stimulation to continue in the educational path, and at the same time, they allowed me to develop a fun, rigorous and versatile teaching method, emphasizing the perception of sound, the rhythm, creation and above all pleasure.

I'm an Irish guitarist with twenty years of musical experience, including as a rhythm guitarist in several bands. I offer guitar lessons for beginner and intermediate players. For beginners, I'll focus on basic chord structures, strumming patterns, and simple fingerpicking techniques. For the intermediate player, I offer more advanced fingerstyle tutorials in a range of styles, covering songs by Jeff Buckley, Bob Dylan, Elizabeth Cotten, John Prine, Joni Mitchell, Fleetwood Mac and Big Bill Broonzy, among others.

I also offer beginner piano lessons, covering a selection of simple classical pieces (Grieg, Bach, Beethoven) as well as some non-classical tunes (Tom Waits, Vulfpeck, etc).

I am a trained classical singer from Berlin, but I would like to install myself in Athens. In class, we will build your vocal technique with which you can sing about anything you'd like. As a yoga teacher, I focus on a holistic approach to singing using also yogic tools to improve technique and performance. In the second half of class, we will build a repertoire that you'd like to sing and implement the technique into it.

Besides singing I play the violin and piano. I can teach them up to an intermediate level.

The older I get, the more I love. Especially during these times of immense ugliness and hate, wars and conflict, music- that's always been all about love - is the home I keep returning to. To me, mentoring someone is all about sharing the love for the instrument, thirst about the material, desire to explore new musical paths and respect for whatever happens whilst playing.
