Having experience as a performing vocalist, Katie is aware of the nerves, performance anxiety and narratives that can crop up. Utilising a holistic approach, including techniques, warm ups, exercises and discussion, you will have a variety of tools to support you in your vocal journey, as well as bespoke sessions to fit your needs and support you in the best way. Sessions can be facilitated face to face or online and Katie is able to travel to you (for those within the Portsmouth and Southampton area).

Italian lessons for all levels from A0 to C2, for all profiles from children to adults. I use a communicative approach, the lessons are based on student's targets and interest, I teach general Italian, Italian for travelling, Italian conversational, exam preparation and much more.

I am an Italian soprano, graduated from the Dutch National Opera Academy. I work as a soloist as a freelance singer, and I teach singing to students of different levels and ages for many years. The most important thing during my lessons is to help the student find a healthy and comfortable way of singing! During the first part of the lesson, we will focus on Technique and breathing, while during the second part of the lesson we will focus on the repertoire chosen together with the student, applying the aspect of the technique that we worked on previously in the lesson.

In this course, you will learn a range of linguistic methods and learn the terms used for describing a specific aspect of language or phenomenon (lexis, morphemes, and 'telegraphic stage' to give a few examples). The course requires you to explore your own data using quantitative and qualitative analysis (eg: how frequently are slang phrases used? Are there new auxiliaries being created?). No historical linguistics or literature is involved, but language change or specific traits will be sampled via your own data collection (if this is what is demanded in your course). As many students need to present a "year abroad" dissertation at University level (3rd year in the UK of a Modern Languages or Linguistics Undergraduate course) I can help you to research and structure your year abroad work, both in English (Linguistics) and Romance languages (French, Italian, Spanish).
