Most of my pupils are already intermediate students who are dedicated to becoming the young violinists of the future, but that doesn't mean my class isn't for you if you are simply looking for a hobby! In this Classical Composition or Songwriting class, that's exactly what we'll be focusing on! You can choose to focus on composing classical music, using scores, or creating your own songs, either for you or other people to sing. You will learn music theory, learn how to use music software like reaper, ableton, sibelius or musescore, and you'll work alongside me to discover your own voice in music making. My name is Bernardo and I am a composer from Portugal who specializes and studies contemporary classical music. I also create my own songs in a singer-songwriter style and I have made music for film and videogame. I am currently doing a master's in Composition at the Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp where I study with Wim Henderickx. I have studied in the past with composers such as Luís Tinoco, Carlos Caires and Eurico Carrapatoso. My works have been played in several European concert halls and I have in my portfolio works for solo instruments, chamber ensembles, orchestra and choir. I am also currently doing a bachelor's in singing at the Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp, so if you are a singer-songwriter, we can also work on your own voice.

Cheslava did not waste a moment of time and found her rhythm with my son very quickly. There was an amazing sense of grace and patience in her tone, yet there was a firm bit of direction that moved the lesson in a clear direction. As a particular detail, I very much appreciated the moments that she asked my son about his experience throughout, and encouraged him to describe every degree of his challenges which I believe teaches him to go beyond the impact of his feelings but to technically observe weaknesses to improve them. It was a sincere honor and privilege to receive her lesson and we will certainly be looking forward to being taught by her again. 👑

We feel so lucky to have found Laura as my daughter’s violin teacher. Not only is she a skilled musician, she’s a wonderful instructor who is able to effectively engage with young kids (my daughter was four when she started lessons). I’ve observed Laura as both structured and flexible — her lessons are planned with purpose, but she also has back-up ideas if a kid’s energy isn’t a good match for the day’s agenda. I love seeing my daughter’s skill and confidence grow in such a warm, supportive learning environment. I wholeheartedly recommend lessons with Laura for any child interested in exploring the violin!

Germán

Germán is a great teacher and also fun to work with. He first carefully diagnoses strengths and weaknesses and then designs tailored exercises around the learning needs and gives concrete feedback and shares vocabulary tips. If you search someone to better understand homework/grammar exercises or someone for stand-alone private classes, German is your guy for both. He can explain grammar or improve conversational skills. Before our private lessons, I took courses at the Cervantes institute and my professor there also respected him a lot for his teaching methods and knowledge.
