Trusted teacher: I'm a 33 years old french teacher and I've been living here in Brussels for 11 years, 8 of them as a french teacher. Before that I studied political sciences and had a couple of experiences in public communication. As a teacher, I gave classes in languages centers (such as Berlitz or Semantics), so I worked and continue working in different environments like lawyer cabinets, hospitals, companies or NGO based in Brussels or with people learing french through unemployment programs). But I also give private lessons, like the one we might do together. This brought me to work with different linguistic, cultural and professionnal backgrounds as well as with very different age classes (from 5 to 65). My class is essentially based on improving communication skills, that is to say that I give an advantage to the practice of verbal expression, through simulations (of professional situations, like doing a public presentation or conducting a meeting,...) and conversation (around documents and medias like articles, audiovisual items,...). Nevertheless, when learning or doing the revision of grammar points is needed, I organize grammar items to work on too (the use of the subjonctif, la concordance des temps, how to express hypothesis,...). For that, I use primarly the book Grammaire Progressive du Français but can also use different material (I worked with some product of the editions Alter Ego more centered on workplace oriented needs for example). So my methode is "taylor-made" as I adapt the content around the needs of each students in term of their communication objectives. What I propose is a set of exercises to practice your oral expression: -Free subjects or subjects of general interest: travel, leisure... or even more specialized themes such as politics, culture... -Vocabulary games: riddles, descriptions, construction of sentences, short stories ... whose words will serve as a basis for other exercises in future sessions to consolidate what has been seen and to measure your progress -Sketches: dramatizations of everyday situations or situations that make you or could make you uncomfortable in a foreign language (work interviews, shopping, making an appointment, procedures at the municipality, etc.) ). Here you will have the advantage of preparing yourself and having the situation under control with the support of the teacher. -Songs: we will go through vocabulary, grammar, accents, expressions, cultural aspects and anecdotes using songs that are part of Spanish-speaking musical culture (Latin America and Spain) Have you ever wanted to know what are the lyrics of a song in Spanish? This is your opportunity! -I also use the following games during lessons, but you can suggest others: tabú en español (taboo), story cubes, and other specific games for learning Spanish (board games for example) I can also help you develop a more formal vocabulary (argumentation, presentation...). You can obviously choose the subject but if you lack an idea I can always suggest one and from there work on vocabulary and pronunciation, which will be reviewed each week in order to consolidate your knowledge and measure your progress. At the end of each session you will receive feedback on the exercises and a few days later you will also receive corrections and notes. Cigdem is a great teacher who takes the time to integrate learnings with real-life discussions. For example, we spend 10 minutes at the start of each lesson and throughout the course of the lesson an extra 15-20 minutes having a chat about subjects including work and life in order to be able to apply all the theoretical learnings to the actual language.
