That is why my method is a compilation of the traditional usage of books, texts, audios, and short films, combined with PowerPoint presentations full of images, interactive games, and recreation of real-life situations in which the students will naturally learn complex grammar topics while having fun. I also create a particular relationship with each student to detect the type of learner the student is and tailor the class according to his/her personality, needs, and expectations. The class can be taught in English or Dutch but I am always aiming to expose the student to Spanish as much as possible so he/she can experience faster progress. I am a native Spanish speaker with a bachelor's degree in Social Communication from Pontificia Javeriana University in Bogota-Colombia, ELE Spanish Teacher certified by Lola Martínez Cabrera Senior Professor from “Molinos de Viento” in Amsterdam and hold a postgraduate degree as ELE Spanish teacher from Barcelona University and International House. I have been giving private Spanish classes to adults for the last five years. For the last 10 years, I have been dealing with Spanish, English, Dutch, and German on a daily basis.

Consequently, my work methodology is mostly focused on motivating the student to speak freely and to learn by acknowledging his/her mistakes. From the beginning, I will try to address the lessons 100% in Spanish, with the aim of familiarizing the ear to the pronunciation. In terms of written exercises, it is important to know what are the student’s learning priorities. When starting with the written part, it is important to know the student is dedicated to practicing and that he will also benefit from this in his future experiences. This is why the exercises will address current social problems that allow him to be fluent when he meets other Spanish speakers. In order for the student to learn as easily and efficiently as possible, homework exercises will be given after each lesson, drafted according to the parts that the students wishes to master best (speaking, reading, listening, writing). This way, the student will benefit from a fluid learning process and, with dedication, will be able to excel in Spanish in a short period of time.

John is an excellent tutor. He goes through the material very carefully and explains every aspect in a clear and understandable way. In my case this was for the subject matter linguistics. It is very difficult if not impossible to get my son speak highly of a teacher who makes him do more reading and writing. :) Merve proved to be an exception.
