16 flute (recorder) teachers in The Netherlands

Do you or your child want to play the flute? Learn how enjoyable can it be? Let's start then! Knowing how to play the instrument is an opportunity to enter the world of music and become a musician. But first of all and it is very important - you learn how to gain a joy of performing music by yourself. I invite beginners as well as children or adults who have already had some experiences with playing and want to develope their skills. I offer also lessons for duos or trios - two/three different recorders, flute and the piano/guitar, two flutes. In this case we focus more on the ensemble playing, less on individual skills, so this option is not for very beginners and prices can be also adjusted (lower per person). How do a lesson with me would look like? It depends on your level and what do we focus on, but for sure at first we will do some preparational exercices and then you will present what you prepared, we will work on the details and if it is still some time - we will try something new. We can also play together (duos). Lesson takes about an hour (+/-) in case of younger students - about 45 min. I can adjust your repertoir to your preferences, needs and to your level but also ecourage you to learn some other, not known and new styles. I prefer to use notated music in the pocess of learning, so you can feel comfortable in the future in "reading" the music from scores, but we can also play sometimes without notation, just something you remember, or... improvise. By the way you will learn some theory of music, which is necessary if you want to become a musician. I offer also Music Theory lessons only - if you wish.

Trusted teacher: Dear reader, musician, music lover, friend, my name is Dorota, I am a musician and flutist currently based in the Hague, Netherlands. I offer modern flute and baroque flute (a.k.a. traverso) lessons for children and adults of any age, from beginners until advanced levels. The lessons can be taught as individual or group lessons either in person or in an online form. In my lessons, I focus on building and/or further developing a good technical base, with a special focus on sound and supporting your own musicality, and any individual musical needs. Furthermore, I support building good physical awareness while playing. Apart from the modern and baroque flute, I can offer beginner classes of recorder, and musical coaching(s) for smaller or bigger chamber groups. If you are interested to take lessons with me or have any further questions, please be welcome to contact me. I am looking forward to meeting you! Something about myself: I come from Slovakia where I started with music lessons as a child, first playing the recorder, and later continued with the modern flute, graduating at the high school focused on music studies. A few years ago I came to continue my studies in the Netherlands. I completed my bachelor's degree at the Conservatorium of Amsterdam, and recently graduated my master's degree at The Royal Conservatory of The Hague, both with a specialization in baroque flute performance. Apart from music, I am very passionate about movement and dance and have taken various courses and workshops, that have helped me build my own body awareness, which I find very important for playing and performing as a musician. I would be very happy to pass on and share my knowledge further.

MY QUALIFICATIONS I'm an active performer in some of the most renowned Early Music ensembles in the Netherlands, and with these fantastic colleagues I've played throughout Europe, Asia and Brazil at some of the most prestigious concert halls and festivals (e.g. Concertgebouw, Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ, Utrecht Festival Oude Muziek, TivoliVredenburg, Kölner Philharmonie, Izumi Hall). I hold a PhD in Music from Leiden University, and Bachelor's, Master's and teaching diplomas from the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague, where I've been teaching since 2012. I am also a certified examiner for higher education in The Netherlands (Basiskwalificatie Didactische Bekwaamheid en Basiskwalificatie Examinering voor HBO-docenten). WHO I AM My name is Inês and I'm a professional recorder player, specialized in Baroque music. Music making for me is about communicating; with the audience, with colleagues, with another era, and with myself. Next to my life as a performing musician, I very much enjoy being a teacher (and also a researcher). MY TEACHING STYLE I have been a teacher for over 15 years, with students of all ages and levels, from pre-school beginners to conservatory level and experienced amateurs; I equally enjoy teaching children and adults. I am flexible with my methodology, so together we will find the best way for the student to develop whilst enjoying making music. In a typical lesson we will play together, work on sound, rhythm, musicality, discuss technical issues, learn about ensemble playing etc. If you are interested, we can also talk about differences in musical styles, repertoire and learn about the interesting history of the instrument.

Joana
Joana is a very talented, dedicated and experienced teacher! She is attentive, patient, passionate, enthusiastic, knowledgeable, creative and encouraging! I take lessons via Skype and I am more than happy to have found Joana as my singing teacher! Joana easily adapts to the student's level and tailors each lesson to the student's individual needs. I would describe her teaching approach as original, motivating and effective. Joana knows how to create a warm and supporting learning environment where I feel comfortable to explore and improve my singing voice. It is apparent that Joana loves teaching and sharing her knowledge. I would definetely recommend Joana to anyone who is either interested in taking singing or recorder lessons!
