Trusted teacher: Do you or your child want to play the flute? Or to learn how enjoyable can it be? You are most welcome! Learning to play the instrument is an opportunity to enter the world of music and become a musician. More importantly, you learn the joy of creating music by yourself. I invite beginners as well as children or adults who have already had some experiences with playing and want to develope their skills. I invite beginners, children and adults, as well as experienced players, to develop their skills. I also offer lessons for duos or trios – two or three different recorders, flute and piano or guitar, or two flutes. In this case, we focus on the skills needed for ensemble playing and less on individual technique, so this option is not for absolute beginners. The cost per person for ensemble lessons will be lower. How does a lesson with me look like? It depends on your level and what we focus on, but we will certainly do some preparatory exercises. You will present what you have been preparing since last time, and we will work on some details. If there is time, we shall then try something new. We can also play duos together. A lesson last about an hour, or 45 minutes for younger pupils. I can adjust the repertoire to your preferences, to your needs and to your level, but I shall also encourage you to learn some new and unfamiliar styles. I like to use notated music in the process of learning, so that in the future you will feel comfortable about reading music, but we can also sometimes improvise, or play something you remember without notation. Along the way, you will learn some music theory, which is necessary part of becoming a musician. I also offer music theory lessons alone, if you wish.

Trusted teacher: “An exciting and versatile young recorder player, committed to pushing the boundaries of his instrument” (Erik Bosgraaf, 2021) Hello! I am a professional recorder and flute player with a passion for both early and contemporary music, offering lessons on the recorder, flute, piano and in music theory in the Amsterdam area and online. I graduated from a Masters in recorder at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam Cum Laude, with a scholarship from The Countess of Munster Musical Trust. Previously, I graduated from the Royal College of Music London with a First- Class Joint Honours Bachelor’s degree in Flute and Recorder. In 2021 I was a finalist for the Moeck/SRP recorder competition as part of the London Early Music Festival. I am an encouraging and dedicated teacher who believes that effective practice, rather than talent, is at the heart of any musical development. I share my expertise in how to practice well, varying your approach to make different connections rather than just repeating things - this also helps to keep practice interesting! I am also keen to help each student find their own voice and expression through music, tailoring lessons to each students needs and goals. I have specialist knowledge of medieval, renaissance and baroque music, and can help students to develop skills in historical performance and ornamentation/improvisation. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.

THE RECORDER The recorder, or flauta doce/de bisel, flauto dolce/dritto, flûte à bec, flauta dulce/de pico, Blockflöte, blokfluit... is an instrument with a lovely sound and a long history. It has been present in my life for 35 years now, and I still find it just as fascinating. It is a practical instrument, easy to carry around, and requires little financial investment at the start, but still opens up a world of possibilities and joy in music making. WHO I AM My name is Inês and I'm a professional recorder player, specialized in Baroque music. Music making for me is about communicating; with the audience, with colleagues, with another era, and with myself. Next to my life as a performing musician, I very much enjoy being a teacher (and also a researcher). MY QUALIFICATIONS I'm an active performer in some of the most renowned Early Music ensembles in the Netherlands, and with these fantastic colleagues I've played throughout Europe, Asia and Brazil at some of the most prestigious concert halls and festivals (e.g. Concertgebouw, Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ, Utrecht Festival Oude Muziek, TivoliVredenburg, Kölner Philharmonie, Izumi Hall). I hold a PhD in Music from Leiden University, and Bachelor's, Master's and teaching diplomas from the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague, where I've been teaching since 2012. I am also a certified examiner for higher education in The Netherlands (Basiskwalificatie Didactische Bekwaamheid en Basiskwalificatie Examinering voor HBO-docenten). MY TEACHING STYLE I have been a teacher for over 17 years, guiding students of all ages and levels, from pre-school beginners to conservatory level and experienced amateurs; I equally enjoy teaching children and adults. I am flexible with my methodology, so together we will find the best way for the student to develop whilst enjoying making music. In a typical lesson we will work on sound, rhythm, musicality, discuss technical issues, learn about ensemble playing etc. If you are interested, we can also talk about differences in musical styles, repertoire and learn about the interesting history of the instrument.

You already have a flute and you rarely or never play? You're not the only one! Often these beautiful instruments disappear after purchase in a drawer or perhaps a place to decorate. This is often due to lack of technology and no inspiration to play. A deeper layer, however, is that one has no connection with their unique inner sound. Do you recognize yourself in this and are you already curious? In my lessons you learn to connect with your inner sound. You learn special breathing techniques, mouth techniques and get a whole package of inner wisdoms.
Trusted teacher: Flute lessons in Tilburg that come to you! I have a Bachelor of Music (First Class Honours) degree from the University of Auckland, New Zealand and am currently pursuing a Masters degree at Fontys School of the Arts in Tilburg. I have played with several professional Orchestras in New Zealand (New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, Auckland Philharmonic Orchestra and the Auckland Chamber Orchestra). I strongly believe that learning a musical instrument enhances people’s lives and helps to develop skills which are invaluable to all students – no matter what kind of future they pursue! I have 10+ years of experience teaching flute, and have enjoyed teaching a range of students from beginner to advanced. This is supported by my strong research interest in flute pedagogy and methodology at a postgraduate level. As a teacher I aim to: - Develop well-rounded, confident students who flourish - Develop skills essential as both a flautist and musician: instrumental technique, physical skills (breathing, body alignment), musicality, performance skills and musicianship skills (aural, theory etc.) - Plan creative, engaging lessons with an enjoyable and vibrant atmosphere - Teach in a style that is supportive, encouraging and friendly - Nurture a passion for music - Use acute problem-solving skills to ensure students playing issues are quickly pinpointed and solved - Provide performance opportunities and prepare students for exams if desired

Trusted teacher: I am a singer studying in the Utrecht Conservatorium and recorder player graduated from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam (2020). I can teach you recorder and singing and adapt to your tastes and needs. For both instruments, I focus, as a teacher and performer, on a healthy, joyful and technically skilled way of playing and singing. With my students, I focus not only on the instrument sound production, but also on body posture, relaxation and organic movement. An happy and relaxed body produces a beautiful, natural and relaxed sound. What music style would you like to learn? Would you like to play folk music, to sing pop songs or walk through a more classical path? I have experience in different areas, having sang and played folk and jazz music and also having classically trained for many years. I can also help you with music theory, from the basic introduction to music to advanced solfeggi and rhythms. I graduated in Musicology and studied Music Pedagogy in Portugal before moving to Amsterdam. For little children, I can also combine the playing of the instrument with more didactic activities mixed with body movement and dance! I have several years of teaching experience both with adults and children, in group or an individual setting. And the most important of all, is that you fall in love with music, all kinds of music, and have loads of fun in the process!

I'm also offering classes online. (ZOOM) I've experienced in teaching online with ZOOM. Trusted teacher: We all need something in our lives that sparks joy, rewards commitment, and brings people together; why not access this through music? As a teacher, I love seeing students feel joy at playing the flute and making their first sounds when they understand how a composer wrote their music and when I share some fun history facts to help inspire interpretation. Ultimately this class is for those who want to improve their skills on flutes of various kinds - modern flute (dwarsfluit), baroque flute (traverso), and recorder (blokfluit). It includes a range of beginner musicians until advanced, younger children and senior adults. You can choose which music you want to play or I can help you select some pieces. More specific instructions in the lessons will center around; how best to interpret and express a piece of music, which flute techniques are required for this expression, and how this relates to the human body. It can be difficult for students to meet each other, so when possible within COVID regulations, I like to organize an end of term concert for my private students so we can build the music community together. Please check my website for additional information, Thank you for visiting.
