Do you want to learn the basics of drawing? Or are you already past that level? Do you want to draw on paper (with pencils) or on a screen? Do you want to learn the basics of 2D animation? All for a very reasonable price? We can do it! Nice to meet you, I'm Daniel. I'm a (private) art teacher, I'm also a freelance artist and have been working as one for about 7 years. I'm looking for students in Utrecht, I have a teaching space available in my apartment (I can share my address when you contact me), but am also able to travel to your desired space within the city. I can also teach via webcam, but I do recommend my in-person classes, seeing as they're more immersive and educational. I unfortunately do not speak Dutch (yet), but am confident we can overcome any potential language barrier we come across. I have the most experience in teaching teenagers and preteens, so I think we would definitely be a good match if you're a parent or guardian looking for a teacher for your child. Depending on what you want to see and discover we will work on anatomy, color, perspective, etc. I will also bring comic strips if you wish to help you discover them. ABOUT THE CLASS: Do you have a character in your head, a story you’ve been thinking about, or simply an urge to draw and wonder what might happen if you turned it into a comic? In this class, we’ll explore how to develop your ideas into sequential form. We’ll work on drawing skills, character development, composition, page layouts, pacing, and the relationship between images and text. We’ll also look at inspiring examples from comics, graphic novels, and art history. Depending on your interests, we might create a short comic, develop a character or story, or begin working towards a longer project. You don’t need to have a finished story, or even know exactly what you want to make. We can start small, experiment with ideas, and build towards a larger project. There are no specific requirements regarding materials. We can work with pencil and paper, ink, color, or digital tools. If you would like to work digitally, you will need to bring your own laptop and software; there are many excellent open-source and inexpensive options available. ABOUT ME: I am a lifelong comics lover, as well as an artist, architect, and published comic book author. My background in architecture helps me create convincing worlds, environments, and backgrounds, while my professional experience in animation has given me a good understanding of timing and pace. As the creator of the successful comic series Boerke, as well as an illustrator and creator of an animated series, he has built a broad and solid expertise within the creative industry. Today, he offers coaching for creative makers who could use support with their projects. Whether you feel stuck in your process, want to sharpen your ideas, or need guidance in developing your work, Pieter provides clear, practical feedback tailored to your needs. I have a bachelor's degree in digital arts, obtained at Saint Luc in 2016. During my studies I made live models, had courses in color, 2D animation, perspectives and character design. I mainly draw with a graphics tablet. During the lessons we will see how: - look at an image, understand how the artist composes it, then learn to reproduce a style. - use layers - use filters to give more life to images - learn different coloring methods, from grayscale coloring to colorization with filters - use different brushes - export illustrations in the correct formats - integrate photos into your drawings With this flexible method, I could teach you in a few lessons to discover or deepen your drawing style and improve your renderings.
