Intro To Photography: How To Use A Camera and Derive Meaning From Images
In the modern world, many people have the ability to take a picture. With such a vast accessibility to photography, how does one distinguish the difference between a "good" photo and one that might not be memorable? How can the way a collection of photos is selected, formatted, and sequenced give meaning? In this course, students will begin by learning the basic functions of a camera, including ISO, aperture, and shutter speed. A manual film or digital camera is required for the course As the class continues, we will discuss styles of photography, notable photographers in history, and how to derive meaning from your images. Instructor will provide constructive feedback on the student's work and will direct the course based on the student's unique interests and style.

Spanish Native Teacher. Private Spanish lessons for all ages.
First of all, I always like to have a first lesson to determine both the level and the needs of the student. In this way, I can gradually develop a flexible lesson plan, subject to possible changes according to the different needs that may arise. My lessons, in general, tend to be dynamic and entertaining, so that my students are engaged from beginning to end, even though I know that all learning has fun moments and moments that require more effort from both the student and the teacher. I have specialized in intercultural language teaching. In this way, I use cultural materials during my classes and make my cultural background available to the students, thus encouraging s their curiosity and thirst for knowledge, so that they learn both a language and a new culture.

Professional English Tutoring With Native US Teacher with 3+ Years of Experience
Trusted teacher:
Hi there! My name is Quinn K., and I am a TEFL-certified professional English/Foreign language teacher with a passion for a multitude of languages. I have taught English all over the pacific rim, in Vietnam, Korea and Japan, both at professional English-teaching schools and with private tutoring. I have also tutored English for several years in Portland, Oregon. In Vietnam I privately tutored a wide variety of age groups in English, ranging from Kindergarten to college-aged students. I tutored younger age groups in English Vocabulary and Conversation skills, and college students for IELTS/TOEFL prep and general professional English. In Seoul, South Korea I worked at a school for North Korean refugees, teaching conversational English to large classes. In Japan, I worked at an after-school program teaching English to middle school students, employing ESL games and structured lessons for students. Through these various English-teaching endeavors, I believe I have a strong skill-set for teaching English to all age groups, and in the full range of contexts (Conversational-to business English). Once returning to the United States, I began one-on-one tutoring sessions for professional and conversational English. In total I have 3 years of professional experience tutoring and teaching English. In combination with my TEFL certification, which has strengthened the backbone of my lessons in professional English, my qualifications and experiences make me the perfect pick for all of your English tutoring needs :) I also speak and tutor a wide variety of foreign languages, including French, Spanish, Cantonese, and Korean. I have extensive background in all of these languages (grammar, pronunciation, etc.), and can teach them as fluidly as I can English. I have tutored these languages privately for two years now here in Portland.
