Even though I study jazz, I am also experienced with Folk, R&B, Soul, Pop, Country, Hip-Hop, actually any kind of genre! I find it the most important in my lessons that the student feels free and safe to explore their own artistry and voice. I will always help to support the student in becoming the best singer they can be, whatever that might look like! Entry-level lessons teach about rhythm, melody, harmony, duo play, replay, music listening and ear training, music notation, and sight-reading. You can learn some days, some others may develop skills over some years. Learners can continue their studies in a music school or studio. Musical literacy is the reading, writing, and playing of music, as well as an understanding of cultural practice and historical and social contexts. My classes are different depending on your level and age. With children from 7 to 12, we start by doing easy vocalization and start training the ear with intonation, we then have fun singing your favorite songs. With teenagers, I also start with some vocalization, a little more elaborate. Depending on the student's capabilities, we start establishing a comfortable range for them and then proceed to singing. For my older students ideally, I divide our lesson into 2 sections. We work on respiration and how the diaphragm works. We do scales and arpeggios and work on intonation. We then proceed to singing and putting into practice our technique. Some students might need more technique before they actually sing, I like to take things slowly and make sure the student feels confident and comfortable singing. I teach children, teenagers, and adults, from beginners to more advanced. Classical training enables you to sing in any kind of way, so don’t hesitate and let’s sing!

My name is Denise and I'm a professional singer with a singing master's degree from Catalonia's Music College (ESMUC) specialized in Historical Singing, Musicology and Music Education. My recommendation for learning the Oud is to start with the study of notes and musical notation before tackling pieces. Although some students prefer to play songs directly, understanding the basics of musical notation allows for faster progress in the long run.
