Trusted teacher: This class is still in its infancy and is designed only for those who want a broad and generic, yet holistic and robust introduction into Stoicism, one of the few ancient Greek philosophies whose lineage traces back to Socrates' disciples. Currently the course offered is a single lesson and will be developed into a few more. The aim is to develop a short 4-5 lesson course to present a robust, well-rounded yet deep introduction to the philosophy. "Introduction to Stoicism" is adapted after a 45-minute introduction to the philosophy I used to present every few months as part of the meetup group "Berlin Stoics" I founded and organized for more than two years. The presentation used to be free and I will keep it relatively cheap compared to usual tutoring services. The lessons will be part lecture, part trivia, and part discussion. Disclaimer: this is not the "Silicon Valley" or "productivity" brand type of Stoicism. What will be presented and discussed is the classical philosophy as it really was and has been developed. This includes its four virtues, its three domains of study, the different authors who have contributed to Stoicism, different interpretations of Stoicism today and how it's spread, marketed, and treated today, in terms of the disadvantages when boiling the philosophy or any philosophy to a marketable brand like and how the philosophy has made positive influences on psychology.
