Learning Italian is not just about learning a language, it’s understanding a world, a culture, a way of doing but most of all, we will make a travel thru literature, cinema, fine arts. I have been teaching for 5 years, I have been working in a big library for children, I studied philosophy and I am truly passionated by languages and education. I can offer a very straight lesson made of lexicon and grammars or a very joyful time with poetry and music.

I have already given classes to many pupils (6 in total) so I have a good experience of giving classes. I am also flexible, so I can adapt to your needs and to your schedule. Having obtained a Bachelor’s in Literature and Philosophy, I can also teach students how to analyse literary and philosophical texts in both English and French. Philosophy can often seem like a frustrating and alien academic field, with arbitrary questions and endless arguments. However with a experienced philosopher as a guide (such as myself) the discipline can be revealed as an exciting exploration of ourselves and the world around us. Depending on what interests you, or what your course requires you to study, we will read texts together, analyse concepts and arguments and actually practice philosophy by having discussions and refining arguments. Philosophy is a magic sword when it comes to navigating the modern world. As we are bombarded with information, a engaged philosophy education gives you the critical thinking and logical analysis skills dismiss the rhetoric and nonsense and find the truth and falsity in a statement, making you a better citizen and friend. My specialism is the philosophy of physics, including the philosophy of quantum mechanics, philosophy of science and philosophy of time. My other interests include metaphysics and the political philosophy.
I am a MSc student of Environmental Governance (in the department of Human Geography) at the University of Oxford, currently studying (remotely) for exams and based in Amsterdam-West. I graduated with a 1st degree Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy in 2015 and have tutored English Literature, Language, History and Philosophy & Ethics. I also have a qualification to teach English as a foreign language (TEFL), and spent a year teaching English to refugees of war in Greece. My teaching methodology is very much student dependent. I have previously taught A Level (16-18 years) and GCSE (15-16 years) students, and also one younger student with learning difficulties. My lessons have previously been based on the exam guidelines and specific school syllabi, but have also often taken different directions dependent on student needs. Often this involves recapping more basic topics and concepts, before building upon these new foundations. The students will receive homework -- often this will be to finish work done in class, or a separate assignment based on that lesson which will allow be to assess how you respond to the class content without my supervision.

As I am finishing my Bachelor in Comparative Philosophy at Leiden University, I am more than happy to help high school students and adults who show interest in engaging in critical thinking, whether it is for exams, tests or as personal challenge. Furthermore, I am proficient in English, French and German for students and adults interested in learning a new language or preparing for language tests.

Trusted teacher: Vincent Van Gogh once said something to the effect that greatness is a series of little things coming together, Emile Durkheim the great French sociologist first 'coined', "the whole is more than the sum of its parts" and Montesquieu conceived of laws in relation to climate. What do all of these have to do with each other? The fact that the interpretation and understanding of one of the realms of socio-political knowledge is not enough to either understand that single discipline of study whether it be Law, History, Political Science, Economics, Sociology or Philosophy- you cannot separate any from the whole and be able to understand the Short, Nasty,Brutish™ nature that reality is and that conditions human life. While my studies and work have nigh been exclusively related to Law, my interests which pushed me there were/are seemingly very different. Through my experience I may humbly submit that the the perspectives that each discipline approaches problems with are crucial in solving very distinct "linguistic" problems within their specific paradigms. They however are victims of dogma as is academia in general it would be fair to say. Living in the times we do, it is not only necessary as a basic informational issue but as an issue of responsible citizenry, young adults must be well educated about the political economy. Whether you're looking to study and/or are currently studying and/or want to learn about any of the aforementioned subjects whether in conjunction with current coursework and/or assignments, or if you're just interested and would like to learn about a specific period in time, this is for you.

Trusted teacher: Why is classical music worth listening to? What is special about Bach or Mozart? Why can music touch us so profoundly? If you want some answers to these questions - but especially if you want to reflect on them, and expand your knowledge of music and art - then these lessons might be for you. For each student, I make a tailored lesson plan depending on their interests. This can be leaning more towards music history, towards a specific composer or time period that you like... everything is up for discussion!
