I’ve been playing guitar for over 20 years - starting off playing acoustic guitar in my bedroom as a young teen to studying popular music at Barnsley College (via University of Sheffield) and BA Music at University of Chichester. Along the way, I have played in various local bands across the UK and taught electric and acoustic guitar at a variety of levels and age groups.

I have been a part time guitar tutor for 10 years and offer my expertise from anyone who wants to start learning to play the guitar, who needs extra tuition for GCSE/A level/etc or who wants to develop their skills and knowledge on the instrument.

I teach in a very relaxed manner and my lessons are very “student driven” - before tuition starts I need to understand what the student wishes to gain from the lessons to ensure that they can get the best out of my experience and expertise. With the exception of primary school aged children, I prefer for the student to decide what they wish to learn in order for them remain engaged with their practice.

I specialize in tutoring piano/keyboard lessons, but I am also offering music theory lessons depending on your preference. Lessons for all abilities and ages, teaching the basic principles of performance or theory through to the more advance concepts, able to adapt lessons to students needs. Due to my experience I have knowledge and skills for a variety of genres, which include the main styles pop, jazz, rock, classical and many more, my lessons will demonstrate the correct techniques and theoretical knowledge needed to become competent within these.

I am also able to guide and teach students through their grades 1-8 on electronic keyboards or piano, for those who are looking to take their music that little bit further.

As a passionate multi-instrumentalist, and specialist in lower strings and world music percussion, I have a wide range of instrumental lessons on offer for all! With 20 years of instrumental teaching behind me, working for schools, music services and community bands, as well as privately on a one-on-one basis, I can provide a bespoke program of learning to inspire and direct ones instrumental journey. I have a vast experience working with children and adults of all ages and standards, from pre-school aged children starting at beginner level (cello and flute), to adult aged students working at advanced level (double base and samba percussion). I am keen to program structured lessons around the pupils needs enable to maximise technical progress, prioritise learning through enjoyment and explore individual creative minds. Person centred learning is at the forefront of my approach to teaching and lesson direction.
